Do you really want your wife shooting with you?

Ross,
let her bring a Trident and we'll have a helluva New Years Eve fireworks.
Think, we would make the headlines ?

If there's anyone left to read them! [roll]

But I just don't think that we can park an Ohio class sub in the Assabet River... [lol]

Don't even throw out jokes about their shoes! I remember after Marcos was thrown out of the Phillipines, and everybody in the media was going on about Imelda Marcos' collection of ~3,000 pairs of shoes. One evening my mother (in her late 70's at the time) started on a rant one evening: "What's their problem? She and her husband may have been rotten people and done all sorts of things, but there's nothing wrong with having that many shoes. If she can afford them, then why shouldn't she enjoy them? ..." I suspect that my mother, living on social security and a small civil service pension peobably had close to 100 pairs of shoes at the time. I wouldnever dare even thinking of a shoe joke around her. [wink]

I suppose that there is at least one good thing about my wife's having absolutely no interest in guns. It's probably the only thing that keeps us from sleeping in our car (with a large trailer attached for the guns) and living off cat food.

I love the few occations the Mrs. comes out with me to burn through a few boxes of ammo. Still she's far from a gun-nut, and our tastes are VERY different (LOVE Recoil, she dispises it) so I'm anxious for her to shoot a few more types of guns so maybe a certain bug will bite her [lol]

I love the idea that my Wife will go shooting with me. No need to buy two of anything, if she wants to shoot one of mine, fine, I'll just shoot a different one. Then when she picks another one, I get mine back to shoot. Got more than enough pistols for 2 people. [wink]

I remember a few years back....there was a distinguished looking gent at a GOAL banquet who had brought his wife with him (IIRC he nearly had to twist her arm to get her to come) and he asked if I'd speak to her. Seemed she was pretty much not happy with his being a gun owner and would rather have been hit by a bus that learn to shoot. [lol]

Talk about a 180 there, eh Len? [wink]

Lynne,

Yes, I remember. And the change in attitude just came out of the blue! She still sometimes gives me with the "I don't care" and then later with "yes I will shoot" routine!

Can never figure women out. Not even worth trying!

As Will Rogers said: "There are two theories to arguing with a woman, neither one works." My wife alternates between "Why do you need so many bullets(sic)/guns?" and "When are you going to take me to the range?" I don't even want to discuss her jewelry...

I think one of the many reasons my husband loves me is because I have 2 necklaces and don't need any more yet every time I look in the closet I ask him when we're going to pick up more ammo and get some more guns...

Would one of the more experienced forum members post a conversion chart? Is it safe to assume that one piece of jewelry equals one firearm? I'm thinking of going for a high end AR M4 with all the bells and whistles, Leupold CQT, fancy rail handguard etc. I suppose I'll need to balance this acquisition with some sort of diamond for my better half I guess? Please help.

Sorry, I am probably one of the few women who isn't into jewelry. Therefore firearms works. [lol]

No, I'm with you! I have some jewelry, but it was all gifted, and is hardly worn at all. I would much rather spend my $$$ on truck stuff, gun stuff, or tools. 8)

That all depends. A quality double-strand of pearls will equal several guns. Diamond earrings will easily cover 1/2 dozen or more, depending on the quality and size.

At the lower end, there's lots of semi-precious stones in many colors -- garnet, peridot, tanzanite, topaz. Personally, I dislike most all of the settings that I've found in mall jewelry stores -- they all have the same stuff and it is all fussy. For example, they typically all have pendants with a decent semi-precious stone with a stupid little diamond above it. I'd much rather put my money in a bigger, better quality semi-precious stone all by itself in a simple setting. So I end up going to a smaller jeweler and picking out a loose stone for them to set.

I figure a nice semi-precious pendant is worth a gun or two.

The only mall jeweler that I like is Tiffany's -- they've got some nice designs. NOT inexpensive, however. I've bought at the store and online: http://www.tiffany.com/default.asp?cntry1=1&

My wife is a geologist. She loves rocks, including precious and semi-precious. And I like buying them for her.

I'd skip the CQT -- it hasn't gotten good reviews. If you want a short to medium range scope, I'd take a look at the Schmidt & Bender 1.1–4 x 20 CQB Short Dot Police Marksman II. It's pretty pricey, though. Probably a single-strand of pearls or better, all by itself.

While I'd much rather buy guns and ammo, having hubby bring me something shiny and sparkly to surprise me once in a while is awfully nice.

:D

Both my daughter and girlfriend shoot (well)......
I can go to her house and reload ammunition if I get bored with TV.
It's like we speak the same language.
When the time comes to tie the knot, I'll have a few more real nice rifles at my disposal and the size of the reloading bench will double.

Yup..........it's been a lot of fun.
When she can find the time, she does the 200 yd offhand matches with me. It won't be long before she's scoring into the upper 180s and I'll have to work a little harder to stay ahead of her.
She also has her son in the Jr. Rifle program.
You can imagine the conversations around the dinner table.
