Did you have to get a note from your doctor? Please take a minute and tell us about your experience at the Mass Licensing Survey.

Planned on doing it tomorrow AM at work because I have my calendar with dates there.

Actually, I did my interview on 11/9, which was a Wednesday. No doctors note, no questions at all from my app, just photos and prints. The detective sgt that did it all was as nice a fellow as could be. I was very nervous and apprehensive about what I would be asked, but no problems at all. Very professional and personable. Took no time at all. The longest thing was getting the computer to boot up for prints and pictures. A very painless procedure in Andover.

Not at all what I had expected, having heard second and third-hand some other stories. Perhaps that was in the past?

It's great news they've abandoned the Dr. note requirement. Thanks!

Grafton is definitely still green. I got Class A unrestricted with no interview or any other hoops to jump through. A single busy administrative assistant is responsible for all the applications, etc., so it took about a month and a half to get all the fingerprints done and the LTC issued.

According to your map Attleboro is now a Red town and is even more difficult than it used to be. Applicants now have to get two letters of recommendations. The old chief did not require that, but did issues LTCs as "Sports and Hunting" even though I know some people who were issued under the the same chief below the age of 25 and got theirs unrestricted. The new chief did keep the same policies too.

I can't find the thread I saw earlier about Leominster, so I am posting here, sorry. Maybe someone can point me to the right place.

But, is Leominster still green? Any new info on it would be great. I read it earlier somewhere, but lost the thread now.

I believe it is still green.

I applied just over two weeks ago and the licensing clerk put LTC-A 'All lawful purposes' on the application by default (didn't even ask). I haven't heard of anyone getting a restricted license recently. She said it was about an 8 week wait (due to delays at the state level).

Still requires two letters of recommendation, though.

Ok great, thanks for the response. 8 week wait?? Wow, that's nothing. I waited 5 months in Worcester. [rofl] I need to get out of Worcester and move to a green town. Thanks for the info.

Winchendon used to be red, but is at least yellow, maybe green. I've been told by the Chief and Lt. that the policy is now to issue unrestricted licenses unless there is an issue. I know multiple people who have had restrictions removed since the policy changed just by asking. The only reason I hesitate to say they are definitely green is that I know one person who received a restricted LTC-A since the new policies went into effect, but I think they had some issues in their past. I don't yet know anyone else who has received a first time license in Winchendon since the policy change. I will have new info in a month or so as the DW will be applying soon for her LTC-A.

So, not sure if this was posted in here but in Plymouth we go through a person, not the Chief. I emailed her Monday to make an appointment. As of today, I didn't hear back from her. I called her and left a voicemail around 11:40. Still waiting...

Finally heard back from the person that does them in Plymouth...4 days to respond to an email...and no appointment till March 7th or 8th.

I moved to Raynham,MA from California about 12 years ago and got my LTC Class A with no restrictions in less than two months. Renewal was no problem and I have to renew again this December, not expecting any issues since the Chief seems like a good guy.

New to Mass (formerly from RI, pistol permit holder for 18 years/no restrictions) and I went through the LTC process in Swansea. Chalk up another green mark for that town! Application process went smooth as silk, and I just got my LTC yesterday (Class A/No restrictions). And yes, I filled out the survey from the link on the first page.

I can honestly say it felt like the cop was there to help me, not prevent me from obtaining an LTC or make life difficult for me.
