Harvard Sportsmen's Club

It is $180 per year now:

A couple months ago I showed up at the planned closure for the 7,25,50 yard range to help with the cleanup...I was the only one besides the couple people with the chair (I can't remember his name).
Thanks for that, the 50yd team works hard to keep the place looking well. I think they came in on Sat, my only dedicated club day is Sunday.

Well you can coordinate with the range chair and pick your times, sure the suggestion is 4 hours but more is appreciated. Teams of volunteers are what keep the club running, a few good reliable folks have moved on and well, its a shorthanded situation all around.

Yes, it was a Saturday.

I know you guys are there every Sunday morning starting at 5 am. That core group really is the team that keeps the place running smoothly...so thanks for all of that work!

Was anyone at HSC this afternoon (july 2)? I saw two large aircraft flying really low and wanted to see if anyone else did. one of the tails had USAF on it, but other than that I have no idea what they were. The must have been a few hundred feet up.

Flew over my house in Dunstable too, went to flight tracker right away and nothing on the radar?? (though I am not a member/customer)

Collins Foundation.

Hudson MA has one of the best collections of historical airplanes and military ground vehicles in the United States, most of which are theoretically operational. They have (I think) one of two privately held M1 Abrams tanks in the whole country (but don't fact check that).

Their advertising is not great; a shocking number gun and defense geeks literally living in the same town don't know they're there. But it's a better collection than, say, the actual US Army has at Ft. Belvoir.

It’s been a while so I’ll be at the 100yd Sunday 7/7/24 with one arm and a volunteer that wants to clean up the tall grass. If anyone wants to come by and help with other stuff I’ll be there at 7:30.

Doing the flu thing. Count me as tentative.

From where I sit; The solution to this issue is to pile drive an i-beam into the ground. Then weld the steel to the i beam angled toward the firing line at 10 or 15 degrees. I'm sure a section of rail road track will do the trick too.
You could also weld a piece of steel to the exposed portion of the i-beam as a shield/deflector
There is a piece of track at the range, I have not yet moved it down range so I’m hoping it’s still there.

I was there saw them fly over the looked like they were having fun it was pretty cool

The American Heritage Museum is a pretty cool place. Besides having an unbelievable collection, they do several reenactments and have a couple of WWII tanks that the public can drive. It's not as easy as it looks and definitely not roomy.

This looked modern. I'd say maybe a C-130, but I don't know much about planes. Also they were really low and not on flightradar24.

These guys/group is awesome! The attended a shoot(possibly multiple) at the Monadnock Rod and Gun club back in their heyday. The brought some cool full auto and I was luck enough to shoot their original STG-44! if you think you hear and feel the spring moving in an old a1 ar stock, shoot an STG!

Harvard is a great club and with such a huge membership, there's no shortage of volunteers to do the many projects it takes to keep the club running. Unfortunately that huge membership contains people who feel the need to destroy club property. Since the board seems to be unwilling to deal with this problem, the volunteers will keep fixing what others have destroyed. I'll cut brush and other vegetation to open shooting lanes but I won't waste my time repairing what others have shot to pieces either negligently or maliciously.

We’re all systems go for tomorrow at 7:30 AM at the 100 yard range if anyone else would care to join. Pretty straightforward job: clearing the tall grass downrange by the wooden footbridge.

I want to see a video of you clean/pressing that piece of track three times, then taking three shots at the steel target.

It looks very nice. If there's no water flowing through that area, do we need a culvert? Can't we just fill it in and plant grass? That would eliminate the cutting and the bridge.
