meh. it`s possible, but i would not think the hazard of ricochets there is too real, to harm anyone from 100yds away. no more than a ricochet from a plate itself. What would you do to prevent ricochets? Bolt a 4x4 in front of it?
The top piece was just replaced less than 1 month ago. So, the top piece lasted really only a week before someone decided to shoot it, destroying the pieces holding the chains.meh. it`s possible, but i would not think the hazard of ricochets there is too real, to harm anyone from 100yds away. no more than a ricochet from a plate itself.
from other perspective - to front it with a wooden plank will reduce the desire to hit the rail itself to hear the sound of it. still i think it would be a long lasting solution, as a current one, with all the significant effort to erect it, apparently, only lasted a season.
it is really like a challenge now, what can inquisitive minds here to come up with to counteract a sheer destructive force of chaos.
ps. if we put a wood in front i would guarantee there will be more than one moron to try to staple a target on it. as good luck stapling shit to a damn rail.
of course, as it was a 'challenge' to use the scope to hit the mounts. like every time it was done before.I’m thinking would they purposely do this knowing
here, i do not have anything on my PC now to do a proper drawing, but it is rather self-explanatory, i hope. if you lay a rail naturally, it will be reflecting it all downside.20 degree downward angle
well, that would be considered unnecessarily cruel.I could also just never do steel again lol
How long of a piece do you want?I can make it super simple and go back to the original design that is identical to the 200/300 steel rack, we can use the railroad track piece instead of tube steel.
That said whoever the chucklehead is will find a way to destroy it. I could also just never do steel again lol
At least 5 feet long. How long of a piece do you want?
Based on how things work I guess spare rails will not hurt. They are installing new train track on the rail by my street. I could prob get an old piece.
Why do paying members feel the need to damage club property? That’s an insane thought process.
Cameras are probably next or worse than that will be Range Officers and ammo restrictions. Wouldn’t that suck!!
What a shame all because of idiots.
Makes me glad I moved away and gave up my membership.
I have an issue with them because I follow the rules established and agreed to when I join anything.I don’t see an issue really with cameras. Hopkinton has been doing it for years. If the board doesn’t abuse it then it can be a good tool to narrow down who is wreaking what.
Anyone know if the Harvard indoor range is air-conditioned? Yes, I’m a pussy.
You are what you eat.
we had a beautifully fabricated T target holder and there were more rounds cratering the holder than there were the targets, we welded it up half a dozen times then decided to go a different direction. From where I sit; The solution to this issue is to pile drive an i-beam into the ground. Then weld the steel to the i beam angled toward the firing line at 10 or 15 degrees. I'm sure a section of rail road track will do the trick too.
You could also weld a piece of steel to the exposed portion of the i-beam as a shield/deflector
Its below grade so it should be cooler if you use the fan carefully, if you turn the fan on you'll have it up to outside temperature in no time at all.Anyone know if the Harvard indoor range is air-conditioned? Yes, I’m a pussy.
