Harvard Sportsmen's Club

What exactly did you hear and from who?

Where you there Saturday? I am looking to confirm what he saw is all, just like my OP stated.

Some people are paranoid and maybe see things that aren't there, or misinterpret them, that is why I would like another set of eyes.

Im not going to say a name, what difference would it make anyway?

He is a long time member, way longer than me and I have been there almost 20 years.

Hello everyone. I’m interested in becoming a member at Harvard Sportsmen’s Club. I’m a veteran moved back to MA and looking to join a new club. If anyone has the free time to shoot and willing to sponsor me after I prove I’m worthy, I’d be forever grateful. Thank you.

When so many are trying to avoid military service, it's appreciated to see someone who's not. Thanks for sacrificing a few years of your life. Getting a sponsor at Harvard will be tough. Your sponsor can be held responsible if you screw up. My suggestion is to go to the maintenance building on a Sunday morning and ask Jason (the pres) if being a veteran offers any relief. This is not a state that any gun owner would want to voluntarily move back into.

Thank you for the kind words! It was my pleasure! And I appreciate the advice!

I hear that guy is a real jerk :)

For all those who say that shooting down the steel is accidental. Maybe once in a while it really is.
We have steel at Hopkinton, but mainly plate racks, dueling trees, and static steel. Even without abuse it requires regular maintenance, frequent visits by El Prez with his tools, and occasional parts orders from MGM (great company to deal with).

Was out on the 100 yesterday, the steel was hanging by only 1 chain like it has been for a while, I prefer it that way. I'm only shooting 5 rounds or so because I am trying to fix a feeding problem

So I shoot the side of it which is kinda easy with my setup and ammo. Hit the side and it spins, then hit the front and it swings.

Well, yesterday my first shot hit and it spins, 2nd shot missed. 3rd shot hit and the plate fell.

There is no way I missed 6" high to hit the bolt, maybe I might miss by . 5" at 100 yards if I'm not paying attention.. I'm using 308 match ammo and really good glass.

So ya, there are accidental shoot down of the plates.. I have no idea how my shot can ricochet off a curved surface then take a half moon path upward then inward then make a 90 degree turn to hit the bolt, but somehow it must have.

I must have had a magic bullet because according to all the experts on here accidents don't happen, plates are being shot off on purpose.

Stay safe, and thanks to you guys that have the time to care for the 100, it looks awesome!

Edit: It was Tuesday :)

People staple their targets to the vertical frame members and use the horizontal members to hold up their clay birds, cans, bottles etc. Then they shoot the shit out of the frame members. Are they being malicious or are they just that stupid. You decide.

They're not savy and the coyotes and especially the hawks will be eating well
Last year, sunday at sunup, had a hawk try to take a big pheasant, all I know is this giant flapping mess almost landed on my hood and hit the road, the pheasant was dead with a broken neck, called one of the hunters who could use a break and lived nearby who came out and tagged it for dinner. No shot to pick out and the quick end made the taste even better is what he said.

The 100 is looking a bit shabby. I cut down what I could reach from the bridge but it's probably time to cut it all down again. It's getting tall enough to get in the way. The steel and chains are gone.

It's a pain, bringing and hanging your own targets, then taking them when you leave. This problem is not going away so maybe the target frames should. If there's nothing to shoot at, there's nothing to damage/destroy.

Unfortunately most gun clubs I’ve been to is exactly like you describe. You bring your own target stand on the rifle range, put it up and then take it with you when you leave. It can suck when a lot of folks are shooting and you want to set up or take down.
