Healey Suspends Enforcement of Long Gun Roster

While I'm glad they see the issue, it's fascinating that EOPS thinks they can issue a memo and circumvent the new law's specific terms. Echoes of 2016 from the executive branch.
When the lawr was written for the current day LTC, it specified that the new license format be of the same dimensions as those of the MA driver's license. There were plenty of us troglodytes issued a paper LTC that was not in compliance with the current MGL sizing standard.

Yes, a much more minor issue.

Frame is a firearm , firearm is on the list that is allowed from our wonderful overlords. I don't see why not?
Not even a frame. Her statement said dealers can sell off the approved roster. Glocks are on the approved roster.

If she can ban the sale of rifles in 2016, she can authorize the sale of others in the same manner.

If they can not sell glocks, 2016 was bullshit.

So.... glocks are on the approved firearm roster. So you can still buy glocks?
*enter FLL'S store* "Hey, I'm looking for a glock or *insert firearm*, can you get me one?".
They say yes, purchase. They say no, try the next one. I have a feeling some will, some won't based on this cluster of a mess and everything open to interpretation...

Do that out as an if not then flow chart

Or just go to a place that advertises.

Mass Hole Firearms sells them.

Or at least did until today.

F the places that keep Glock sales a secret among their friends.

Nobody has time to wait 3 hours in line just to ask if they sell Glocks.

I’m not about to drive to every shop between the Berkshires and The Mill to ask if they sell Glocks.

Mass Hole Firearms answered the phone today, too.

A shop that is not afraid to advertise is where I’ll shop because they are putting themselves out there.

Lol most of the places that sell them don't keep it a "secret". They don't advertise stock because they literally don't need to. They figure if they can self-deselect/pre-fire bad customers that are literally too stupid or too lazy to figure out something that basic, that the customers they do get by referral will be far less of a hassle.

They're not wrong, I literally do the same thing in my own business. I like it that way. Because it avoids problems and bad customers. LCD/lazy customers are not great for
business. For a awhole variety of reasons.

Good for you, have fun overpaying at Gun Parlor or wherever. If you want that "towel attendant experience" you will usually have to pay for it.

Let me put it in these terms, you want a shop that will entertain your lookie loo/tire kicker tendencies. The signals that sends in a phone convo or even some
electronic messaging formats are generally huge red flags. Why? because subconciously we know most of these kinds of calls do not result in sales, or if they do, its
an extreme longshot.

They passed a bill in which they had no clue what was In it. Now they have to suspend multiple portions because they really f***ed up. This state sucks. And we suck for letting it happen
The petition is spreading awareness through the gun community - NES only reaches a small portion.
Multiple groups are working together in order to streamline and expedite judicial actions. We got a major gift from the knife freedom groups that will help with this.

Even if 100% of mass gun owners had attended the 'listening' tour and public hearings, this was not getting stopped.
Now the state has gone way too far and even Mass courts will be forced find in favor of gun rights.

Any not lawfully possessed within Ma on 8/1.
FTFY. The quote is:

Section 131M. (a) No person shall possess, own, offer for sale, sell or otherwise transfer in the commonwealth or import into the commonwealth an assault-style firearm, or a large capacity feeding device.
(b) Subsection (a) shall not apply to an assault-style firearm lawfully possessed within the commonwealth on August 1, 2024, by an owner in possession of a license to carry issued under section 131 or by a holder of a license to sell under section 122; provided, that the assault-style firearm shall be registered in accordance with section 121B and serialized in accordance with section 121C.

Pre-1994 - Certainly legal pre-8/1.
Post-1994 and pre-2016 - Healey says "illegal, but we won't prosecute"
Post-2016 and pre-8/1 - Healey says "illegal" but has not prosecuted; there are multiple basic logical issues with her enforcement notice, and the ATF has issued multiple tax stamps for things built on AR15-type receivers, which Healey says are illegal

The interpretations from both GOAL and Guida that I've seen indicate that post-1994 AND pre-2016 "assault weapons" (🙄🙄🙄) are legal under the new law. Both also indicated that post-2015 and pre-8/1 examples are NOT legal under the new law. While I am not a lawyer, I see no way for these things to be logically or legally consistent. Which brings us back to MaroonedinMA's excellent technical analysis. 🤣
It's complicated.

If you believe they were, then they are. If you believe they weren't then they aren't.

Pretty much. They are all ASFs no matter how you slice and dice it. “Lawfully” is a rather subjective term because everything is illegal in Ma.

aka - we have no idea how to implement this and were given 60 days and instead got 40.

Wait until we have to start registering "assault weapons." LOL.

At face, she fully thinks she's it in MA when it comes to making laws, and enforcement, and doing whatever she wants like a little tyrant king.

Wait, I thought it was Trump who was going to be a dictator.

So now all you see is she signed the law but everything is good...you can buy guns, no dealers will be shut down...... Guarantee the news will be running that so she doesn't get her tits slapped.

Surprised that's not her kink? [rolleyes]

She didn't ban anything in 2016.

They sold Glocks or GLOCK FRAMES?

You don't have to register assault weapons at all since they aren't mentioned anywhere in the law

But you can't have "assault-style" firearms
