I just can't buy a Glock.

Ugly but they'll go bang every time you pull the trigger. Kinda like that sure thing midnight drunken booty call.

Be sure you get lots of practice to get accustomed to that terrible trigger. I'm repeating myself, but it's just like walking barefoot and accidentally stepping on a mouse: increasingly resistant squish followed by crunch and finally pop. Maybe that's not a fair comparison- stepping on a mouse isn't anywhere near as repugnant.
[laugh]

@chris_1001 - Did you buy yours at the Mill via banging on the door of a closed shop while asking, "Do you sell Glocks?"

Honestly? I fire it just fine with the stock trigger.

I'm not picky about triggers. I learned to shoot in the Army, where you get what you get and you don't get upset. I'm adaptable. I've never had a hard time adjusting to different triggers.

Two out of three recent ones at the mill, I ran up to another dealer to get my yesterday Glock its going to be delivered to my dealer for pickup next weekend.

The line was too long and the dealer would not hold it for me yesterday, so I put plan B above into play.

That's because when you ran up to him, you called out "I am Chris! From NES!"

I have a pile of Glocks and honestly I shoot them just fine as well. The triggers do suck, however, and I think rather than flip between finger grooves / no finger grooves and back strap options Glock should with their next generation upgrade the trigger function a bit. Even Canik now has a much better trigger for some of their models competitive to Glock. Would be way cheaper for Glock to implement such improvements rather than investing big bucks in new mold tooling.

Among other calibers I have not one, but TWO Glock 40's. After confessing that, the local parish posted a guard to keep me out. Actually one of them (G35) has a Storm Lake 9mm conversion barrel.

40 is OK but if you had bought a 45 GAP then I’d have to think differently! 😆

Glocks are just very functional, utilitarian units that you'll be glad to have. Once I vacate commie land, one will permanently reside in my truck.

He recently retired, but my new to guns BIL had late commutes to the New Orleans area. His route required him to drive through some bayous that are well known stolen car and body drop locations. Besides two-legged problems, if he ever had to change a tire etc. there are huge gators there as well. I highly recommended a G19 and he's very happy with it.

I bought an extra Glock right before I moved to Mass a while back. Still haven’t ever used it. Turned out to be a better idea than I thought

I might have 2 G19's...

Well... what the heck is the world coming to?!

I can hardly believe it myself, but I just bought two, yes two BNIB Glocks.

I know! I know!... I feel like I should go to confession next week.
I have absolutely no intention of taking them out of their cases, but with the new bill waiting to be signed... I had to.

I feel like I need a shower...
I don't know if you saw me mention this another thread but when I first started getting into guns I intentionally avoided even like touching Glocks for like 4 years. It wasn't the "plastic eww" thing it was the "everyone has these, but im going to be a gun hipster douchebag and never buy one so im goingto invent excuses to not buy one. ". Then I got a G19 gen2. After about a month I realized I was completely wrong and pissed off at myself about it momentarily. Like "you retard, you bought all that HK etc whatever shit for nothing". 🤣 As it turns out the inelegance of the platform is the biggest asset. The guns are inexpensive so you can buy several of them. You can beat the shit out of these guns and they don't care. You can shoot them until clods of dirt come out of the ejection port. 🤣 The magazines are cheap and available. The aftermarket parts situation is literally only rivaled by the 1911. A monkey can safely upgrade then. Nothing else comes close. Glocks are an antidote to pretty much everything that pisses me off about other striker platforms.

Fast forward to 2024 and Glocks make up like 85% of my safes pistol wise. Are there "objectively better" guns wrt trigger etc? Sure. Has glock as a company been less than perfect with qc sometimes? Yes.... but right now they blow everyone except walther and HK out of the water on that front. The death blow is most of the competition doesn't have the ecosystem around it that glock does. In the long run its saved me a lot of money because i have a bunch of guns that just do what they're supposed to, no bullshit. I go leering at a bunch of other guns and then I usually end up not buying them because I know it's not going to be any better than one of my glocks. Sure there are exceptions I have a few beautiful 1911s, a few CZ etc... but those are all niche guns.

You can correct that error by going back to the Mill and getting 1-20 before 8/1.

Not following that advice would lead to a real screw up.
Not sure I even 'need' a 19 though. I have a 45 and a 17

But yeah ill probably end up with one...

I do remember your early Glock story. You have been bustin my balls about Glock hate, off and on, for about 15 years now! [laugh]
I finally took your advice!... I'm stubborn/ stupid sometimes!
I suppose we will see how long they stay in the box!

I mainly bought them because Mauron said I couldn't. And someday my son may want a Glock.

My first glock was purchased because if CT’s impending ban of “high capacity” firearms post Sandy Hook.

Now I have 13plus.

Similar with ARs.

I was in the safe earlier today. 13 glocks plus a couple slides and maybe another frame or two.

They’re cheap, they multiply- and quite seriously- for a while I was keeping a full set in CT for the summers. So i’ve got some duplication.
Uhmmm, yo @allen-1, you forgot to check the other safe, that's where the rest are...

:)

I generally don't bring the G20 to the same range day as my late 1st gen Delta Elite. Both have aftermarket springs and better trigger bits thus they are each an improved example of their models. However, the G20 is still ugly and clunky, while the Colt is a beautiful and fine running machine with a wonderful trigger. I'm perfectly happy shooting the Glock so long as I haven't just shot the Delta. [laugh]

That said, for OWB or bring along in the truck self defense duty- G20 every time.

I've owned both and I understand what you're referring to. :) Now I have two G20s but if I had the money I would have bought another 10mm 1911 in a heartbeat. At one point DW was making a 10mm specialist. *salivating*

I've been carrying these things daily. I hate myself for doing that.
I thought I read a post somewhere that you were surprised at how easy a G17 carries?
I read it and thought, " He's was not carrying a f***in Webley, was he?" LOL. That would be like carrying a cinder block.

But it is funny how some guns just carry well. I have always found that 1911's, because they are so thin and easy to snug up to the body with a good belt and holster, just seemed to ride well. But they can get heavy.

For a long time, I carried a 229. But @drgrant kept calling it a school bus and it hurt my feelings and made me self conscious. LOL.
I actually really miss carrying the 229. With the short reset trigger it is a dream to shoot and I was very confident the bullets would go where I wanted them to.

I have a Monson era DW 44 mag. That thing looks like polished glass and is a joy to shoot. If recent QC is anything like the golden days, those 10mm 1911's must be pretty nice.

I have a DW Specialist in .45 ACP and the fit and finish is incredible.

Im trying so hard to not buy a 10mm DW right now...

I dont need it, but I definitely want it

I HAVE carried a 4" Webley .455, yes, but never all that much. I just did it a couple of times to say I'd done it.

My usual carry before the G17 was a BHP, full-size. Which carried really well, and so did the 1911s I carried before that. But I really do notice the weight difference. And it's nice, when carrying compact, to have a G26 with eleven rounds, that I shoot really well, instead of my former P938 or S&W snubbie.
