The Knoxville Police Department intends to file three counts of assault against a nine-year-old child due to an incident at East Elementary on Friday.

Chief Dan Losada tells the Journal-Express that he received a call from Principal Mike Montgomery after students reported to Montgomery that a child was pointing a gun at three students on the playground. The children did not know the gun was a toy and felt it was real. Putting the children in fear is enough to warrant an assault charge.
