He suspects that his father and grandfather 'collected' the items throughout their service in a number of Israel wars. Potentially could be since 1948 and perhaps even before.
The idiot called the police who disarmed the grenades and then seized everything. Knowing the Israeli system, it will all probably get destroyed.

You can't read it, but 'enjoy' the short video clip of the bounty.

They were attacked a year ago. Wishing you were armed to protect yourself.
Looks like the father and grandfather didn't trust their own govt to protect them either.
So what do their soy boy children do. Turn them in to the same people their father and grandfather hid them from.
How soon people forget history..
The father and grandfather remembered the holocaust.
Their kids forgot in a little over a year...

No Sten Guns. The pre Israel resistance (The Haganah) produced both Sten Guns and 9mm ammunition under the noses of the British. Kind of ironic since the British designed the Sten to be made by the resistance in various countries captured by the Germans.

OTOH, the Israelis had Mausers while the Arabs had a lot of SMLE and other British equipment.

Are those subguns WWII-era German weapons?

That doesn't look like a STEN gun. The magazine well is wrong -- it's on the bottom. The STEN gun had the magwell on the side. And the stock is wrong for a STEN gun.

It looks to me like a Swedish K (Carl Gustaf m/45).

Ironic, too, that the Jews who had just been abused by the Germans were using German guns, although they were smart enough to take useful equipment and ideas from anyone who had them.

To me, it looks like (top to bottom); a Swedish K (only the wire stock can be seen), a STEN, and three more Swedish Ks.

If they were captured in war, the Swedish Ks might rather be the Egyptian version called the "Port Said".

I saw a bunch of AK's, SKS, Carl Gustav's and some odd PPS', Enfields, and a Mauser for long guns in the vid, Nice find.

So did they confiscate only the grenades? That’s pretty cool.

Everything. They disarmed the grenades, but took everything. No chance the Israeli police would leave it.
Firearm laws in Israel are insanely ridiculous. MA and CA look like TX compared to Israel.
Even if you are "lucky" enough to get a license, based on several criteria, you can only (legally...) keep 50 rounds in the house.
You need a full renewal every 3 years - meaning doctor's note and 4 hours of training - and a mid-term training/50 rounds shoot in between, every year and a half.
You are required to keep a specific safe in the house to store your handgun. Of course no one checks, however if your handgun is stolen they will start investigating and if there is no safe you lose your license. If both you and your wife/husband have a license, each of you need a separate safe...
Oh, and when you come do your mid-term and 3 years training, they "inspect" your ammo. If they believe it's "too old", you are required to dump it and buy new ammo.
Crazy.

Sounds like a lot has changed since Oct 7.

Eligibility criteria for a gun licence were expanded to include past and present volunteers in the emergency services, as well as anyone over the age of 21 who has done at least two years military service.

The changes were estimated to have increased the pool of eligible gun owners threefold.

According to the latest Israeli government figures, 288,345 gun licence applications have been registered since October 7, a jump of more than 700 per cent from the months before the attack.

The figures also show about 1,000 new gun licence applications are being made every day, compared with 850 applications each week before the war.

Aren't they also limited to the number and type of guns that an Israeli can possess?

No way that the collection would be legal for one person or family to possess there.

That's a lot of likely illegal guns to expect a (probably) non-gun guy in Israel to try to keep and hide indefinitely, or even try to dispose of. Him holding onto a few of them for a rainy day and turning in the rest is probably about the best outcome you could expect here.
