And while FFL's are required to maintain their bound book and 4473's as long as they're in business, then turn them over to BATFE when they go out of business, I hear that a lot of small dealers (particularly some of those forced out by the no home dealer regs) have been experiencing unfortunate floods or fires shortly before going out of business, and have only been able to forward bags of ashes or paper mache to the feds.
