Looking for any info if anyone has done this before. I can shoot pretty decent groups but i want to re-barrel mine to make it a good shooter. I already know the barrel i want but not sure if there are any smiths in the area who can do this? I dont think it is something i would tackle myself. Thanks.

Im pretty sure. Ive had two on it and this one fits better. I know its not a true test but u can fit the whole bullet down the muzzle.

Check out the CMP specials at Shuff's Parkerizing and Military Arms Restoration.

For $175 (which includes return shipping), he parkerized my M1, installed a NOS CMP barrel (supplied by me), and re-cartouched the stock, and had it out of his shop on the truck back to me within 5 business days (as is his guarantee). You'd be hard-pressed to find better work at a better price, and it was back almost before I realized it was gone.

Just got an email from the CMP on Friday about new Criterion barrels for sale. Not sure if it's at all helpful...

You do not need anything special to fedex a rifle?

Money and a box.

Shufflin's FFL # is probably on his website, but if you want to reassure yourself, e-mail him for the number and confirm it online at FFL eZ Check.

You can fill out the FedEx shipping form online using a credit card, if you don't have an account. Then you can drop it at any FedEx full service center (not Kinko's), or stop any driver you see.

Easy-peasy lemon squeezy.
