I got an alert from Amex today for a charge from CMP, looks like mine might be coming soon as wellAlthough I have not received a correspondence from CMP since the DBU, I got a text from Fed Express indicating that I will receive a package requiring an adult signature tomorrow. No, not that kind of package. It is coming from Anniston AL.
That would look pretty good with one of the DuPage laminate stocks-

Wow! That's pretty awesome. Service Grade, correct? How long ago did you order? Obviously we want to see a range report, LOL. Lucky pick- seems like it's hit and miss lately and you were shipped a good one.It arrived today. A close to brand-new Springfield - (0+ and 1+) new wood and very clean. Dated February of '55.
I'm very happy with this rifle.
And that's the secret to keeping vintage wood in great shape. Buy a stock just for shooting... Preserve the USGI for your grandkids and for ogling. That does look good, but I didn't want to change the original stock. It has some history and what I would call character. The action comes out pretty easy, but the rifle is plenty accurate for my purposes. I would love a carbon fiber stock, though!
Its always hit or miss , also figure the strong dividing factor from Service Grade to Field grade is Muzzle and Throat wear. Then over all condition.Wow! That's pretty awesome. @Mountain - Oops, I should have mentioned that. They received the order on May 7 and the DBU came through on Sep 22. The order was for a SG, no sticky.Wow! That's pretty awesome. On that FG, you might get lucky and get WW2 wood, but keep in mind regarding your sticky that H&R started making M1's in 1953.@Mountain - Oops, I should have mentioned that. They received the order on May 7 and the DBU came through on Sep 22. The order was for a SG, no sticky.
Separately, I ordered a FG, which they received on Sep 1. This one had a sticky for GI wood and WW2 HR. I regret the sticky and fear it may result in a lower quality unit, as they try to accommodate with slim pickings. Should have just gone with 'best available'. Oh well.
I missed that they had SG IHC's! I'd like to add an IHC someday. On that FG, you might get lucky and get WW2 wood, but keep in mind regarding your sticky that H&R started making M1's in 1953.
I have a SG IHC on order. Received 4/9, DBU about a month ago, nothing since. I ordered a FG 9/7? I think and no DBU yet.
I'll happily receive them for you.Got shipping notification for mine today, unfortunately I’m out of the country on vacation, I’ll get them the day I get back, based on the serial numbers, if they are both SA, one should be sept 41, the other dec 54 or hra feb 54
you might get one like mineAwesome! So, I asked for something that does not exist. This ought to work out well.
I hope the sticky falls off during processing.
Something tells me they might....they have to had alot of cruddy barreled actions in this lot?I missed that they had SG IHC's! I'd like to add an IHC someday.
If they offer .308 Garands again at some point, I think I'll jump for one.
<Bang!>... best of all: a real woman doing porn with a real Garand!!
5 months is nothing2nd CMP M1 - order received 5/14 - FedEx delivery scheduled for Monday, 10/18 - Service Grade - 4.26 serial number. Took 5 months.
M2 ball should be the cheapest 30-06 out there.I can't remember where I read it but is there some kind of modification to shoot normal 30.06 through it? M2 Ball is hard to find and expensive so I haven't shot mine in years.
As the CMP is allowed by congressional decree to ship rifles to your doorstep, there is no seller present during your registration. The key word is 'registration'. You are not entering a sale but a registration, basically the same as if you moved here with a M1 and therefore you leave the seller blank.Received my order from CMP yesterday. 2 service grades. One is a Springfield from June of 1942 with some character to the wood-I think it is original SA wood by the markings. It has been around the block quite a bit. The other is an H&R from 1956 with new CMP wood.
I do have a question about filling out the registration on the gun transaction portal for MA. Reading through the MA gun law forums on here I see folks saying not to fill out the seller information. eFA-10 clarification for C&R I'm confused why you wouldn't put the seller information down. Is this because CMP is not an FFL? I'm new to this hobby and the only two other purchases I have made, one was a face to face with another MA resident and one was at a brick and mortar gun shop.
