Maryland AWB case Snope v Brown going to SCOTUS. (Formerly Bianchi v Brown & Bianchi v Frosh)

Mmmmm. Maybe.

I could spin it a different way. The USSC went on an active court rampage from teh mid-50's through recent past. The current court is trying to get back to the historic intent of the court.

Historical average is 100 cases a year. We're below that now. I'm not sure if I ahve a problem with that or not. Given that the chances of them F'ing up (like Congress) is higher than 50/50, I only want to see a case come up because it will be a game-changer. Otherwise, there's a risk they F it up.

The problem is that semi automatics are in common use, so Congress changing language in the NFA to include it would be struck down. As to the court ruling anything not an MG is protected, that wouldn't come up in the Brown case because the court focuses on the question, which in this case is MG related, so the ruling is going to be either, yes it can be regulated/banned or not and if it's not then MG's are good to go and the court is never going to do that.

So, the court is just kicking the issue. They are waiting for a snoozer of a 2A case that has little impact on anything to virtue signal. At this rate, I don't think the court is ever going to grant cert to Snope or OST, not until Roberts or Barrett are off the bench which won't be for another 10-15 years.
What I stated was that Brown IS a slam dunk for SCOTUS - there is an 8-1 support for machinegun NOT being protected.
My point was that Roberts loves to split the baby so taking a machinegun case would be an easy reach.
And in that opinion in order to bring in the textualists, they could find that the line between protected and "dangerous and unusual" is the line between semiautomatic and machinegun.
That gives something to both sides and takes something away.
Will they do it? Not likely
And the Vanderstock case proves they are drawing a clear line - yoy have the right to keep and bear, but only what the government knows you have and what the great black robes feel safe with.

So, back to the Snope thing.

50/50 that it gets mentioned tomorrow or Monday?

How does that work, anyhow? Is it Friday we need to look for, or Monday? Seems like it has changed over time. Maybe this thread should just be locked, so it no longer gets discussed.

Hmmmmmm...........

Yesterday 3/24, Snope was distributed for conference on Friday 3/28.
Ocean State is not, so far.

Until now, they have been distributed at the same time.
Something to do with the Duncan v Bonta decision?
3 different cases, 3 different threads:

  1. Snope (this one)
  2. Ocean State over here: Ocean State Tactical vs Neronha (Rhode Island Fed court, Mag Limit case) Update AWB proposed
  3. Duncan v Bonta over here: 9th Circuit En Banc Rules As Expected For California In Duncan v. Bonta Mag Ban (Judge VanDyke Dissent Video Included)

Ocean State Tactical: Docket for 24-131

Mar 24 2025DISTRIBUTED for Conference of 3/28/2025.

So what does this mean, exactly? I see no news about anything having to do with today, this subject, and the Supreme Court. I don't see anything for Monday, either.
🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️
Look up ONE post from yours. Distributed for conference means exactly that. Both the Snope and Ocean State Tactical cases have been assigned (aka distributed) to the next SCOTUS conference day, which is today. And as my post above indicates the "Orders List" that comes out of todays conference will be released Monday at 9:30 am.

Yet again,
In all sincerity, if anything happens that's of earth-shaking importance? You're not going to have to ask about it here. It'll be all over the site. Until then, just wait.

We've told him about 982 times... There's literally no use to monitoring cases at a micro level unless you're a legal geek/nerd. Otherwise its a waste of his time. I don't even do it
anymore.
You guys are killing me! You're the ones who got this all ramped up over the course of this thread. Now that I am on this trail, and am looking for what everyone has been talking about for months now, you all pull out and say it's just me? Ha ha, too much.

Unless they wild-card it and publish the acceptance notice after close of business today. SCOTUS has done that before.
Ha ha. Fuel on the fire! ;-)

If you're that interested... Maybe do some of your own legwork for once instead of asking for the spoon fed toddler version? I myself am at the point where I don't care enough to
look at the micro state of these cases anymore, just the beginning and the outcome (when that happens). Everything in between?" thats like watching a pot of water boil for 2-10 years.

Is this the same as being a nipple head? I am pretty sure it’s essentially the same.
No. @Coyote33 is not a nipplehead. He just is trying to wrap his head around the complexity of the garbage. I used to geek out over this myself but there's so many layers of garbage here. I do read into some of the cases but on the 4D chess that happens in the middle? Its understandable to not know what it means till it washes out at the end. Never give up hope, while simultaneously realize each one of these is a 26-100mile MARATHON and not just the 100yd dash.

Why so serious? 😂

You guys don't understand that John Roberts is too busy hanging out with Judge Boasberg in their Eyes Wide Shut judicial sex club and Amy Barrett is occupied flicking her bean at the thought of rape survivors giving birth to rape babies because abortion got canned in multiple states for either to grant cert to cases that are obviously in violation of Bruen.

What club? Are you a member and saw it?
