Mosin Nagant, just wondering aloud.....

In my mind the Nagant is the new SKS. I remember when you could get an SKS for $200 and now they are all $350 for a beater. Buy a few Mosins now if you are smart and shoot one and keep the 2 prettiest for sale in the future. Also they are very accurate rifles that fire a high impact round for cheap money. many people also like to use them as a rifle to have friends shoot because they don't just rip 30 rounds down range in 10 seconds at $39 a box like some AR15. They are a piece of history as well.

Collectors in Merrimack NH has 20+ of these in stock. Their prices are about $2 more than what i can buy them on line with my CR. and I can handpick them!!

no sales tax in NH,,,, mass residents can buy rifles in NH,,,,,, so if you are close.to the border......

and DRB,,, small stamps!

Damit, I need to take a ride up there! By the time I do my Westinghouse will be long gone!

All this talk about Mosins made me go to Collectable Arms today and buy one. I've had my C&R a year and this was my first buy with it. Got a 1932 hex and a crate of ammo. Have many to choose from, I looked them all over and this one looked good but I didn't really look at the round ones. Now just have to clean it up. Good guys there and the shop was busy at 11:30 am.

what's the obsession? This is not a question criticizing these rifles but I've never seen a mil surp anything take off into orbit as these guys have done. Not just on here but almost every major gun magazine has written about them. So what's up with these rifles I'm missing? I'm not really a rifle shooter but someone tell me what the attraction is and I might get one. Hell, some of you guys talk more lovingly about your Mosins than I bet you do the woman in your lives. And I think there's a few women on here that own one as well.

I am planning on buying an entire crate. I might split it with a friend, don't know yet. I can get a crate shipped for $2K. (I am not revealing my source, you can all kiss my a**[smile])

Going back a bit, they were believed by many to be the superior sniper rifle in WWII,. Simo Hayha, used a finnish one with no scope to score the majority of his over 700 confirmed kills, so that certainly speaks for their potential accuracy. Not sure if there is any truth to it, but I've heard that Scoped Mosins were very prized by german snipers for their accuracy. The gun certainly has a rich enough history if you care about that sort of thing.

I think I'm gonna get grab one over the summer. Does anybody know any places around middlesex county with good deals on bulk ammo for it? Pesky ammo shipping law.

oh and since nobody has posted this yet, http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinHumor.htm
