New Acquisitions for August 2013

Got a couple of Colts. Both 1860 Army.

First, a well worn 1861 manufacture, all matching with minor inspector stamps and faint cartouche on the grip. It needs a few screws and main spring to be whole.

Next, a 2nd gen with case, flask, mold and balls. Need to get the wrench for it.

I just got the Beretta Tomcat. The 1911 isnt new, it's just awesome. :) First post!

My first all matching rifle; a diamond in the rough that needs a little TLC, but a rare one. The unit mark is of the Bavarian 2nd Chevauleger Squadron, 2nd Troop, 54th Rifle. The Chevauleger units were only used by Bavaria. Unit marked on both sides of the muzzle.

100% matching 1893 Erfurt M1888 Commission Karabiner. It has period updates with the 'neus material', reamed throat, reinforced chamber, and a heavy S barrel so I can still shoot modern 8mm loads with an original Gew88 style clip. 17" barrel and 8mm should sound like a M44 and 7.62x54r!

Thanks for looking,

T

Very nice rifle sir! You'll give her the tlc she needs!

majspud - Awesome historical acquisition

wolo - great gun. I owned a P239 in 9 for a couple of years. Shot it quite a bit and never had any type of failure with it. The only reason I don't still own that gun is because I traded it in for P239 in 357sig.

Great looking rifle Zappa!

The semi-auto is the new acquisition.
Got it today at Collectors in Stoneham.
It's a Winchester Model 290 Deluxe which went out of production in the 80's.
This one has the fancy wood with the rare oak leaf and basket weave checkering.
The vast majority of the ones I've seen have either plain uncheckered wood or traditional cross hatch type checkering.
The other is a model 250 which I've owned for decades, also with the rare checkering.
The 290 is basically the semi-auto brother to the lever action 250.
Now I have a pair with matching wood!

Here is something i've wanted for a long time!

Pedersoli "Howdah" percussion pistol. Its side by side 20Ga smoothbore. Shoots a .610 round ball or I can do buckshot, etc. Its a percussion black powder, double triggers and hammers. Its a gorgeous gun and it is a BLAST to shoot. Amazing power, smoke and crowd appeal!
