New Acquisitions - October 2024

I bought it as a pistol, form 1'd it that same day. It was approved 2 days later. Did that with about 10 other guns over the last 18 months ahead of the pending law change. I was prepared.

I can sell any one of those in Massachusetts as a pistol now and more then break even.

Mag is blocked of course. Not standard capacity

Bought mine as a pistol frame.

Owned on 8/1.

Now what?

I've been hunting in NY and PA for several years with a really nice Model 70, .270 with tiger striped wood.

Our county in NY finally went to rifle a couple years ago, so rifle hunting is still pretty new to me after slug guns only for 45 years.
I came close to dinging up my Winchester last year so I decided to pick up this .308 from Cabelas, rather than spending $1,300 on an extreme weather Model 70.

And I inherited 18 boxes of .308 from my uncle but I didn't have a .308. Now I do. And if I drop it in the creek I wont be concerned...
Honestly, compared to my Model 70, it's a piece of crap, but I bought it with points so...

Will take it to the range this weekend and see how it does.
Vortex 3x9, out the door for $640.00. My first gun purchase via Cabelas (Hudson), that was an experience, but that's for another day in a another thread.
Carry on.

Those two will fill gaps in the collection, as will the next acquisition on Friday.

Just took possession today of a very rare S&W 547 in 9mm. The gun came from overseas where it seen use by a foreign military. It's made it's way back to the US and luckily into my hands. The gun looks like crap from all the holster use it's seen, but overall functionality is excellent. Very solid lock up and the rifling looks great. The question is whether to leave her looking like a well used handgun or get it reblued. I'm on the fence with this one.

I've got a service-related Colt that I have sat on the same fence with. If I do restore it the work will be done by:

You stated that it is rare,so rebluing will take away that originality if it has any markings from where it served.Clean it up, and get a letter from S&W.
