New Acquisitions for May 2010

I got these in late April but I've been too busy post them.

Colt Python 6" barrel, .357 from 1956
This pistol is 98% perfect with just a small hairline scratch on the barrel. No bad for being 54 years old! BTW this is my new 'Safe Queen' [grin]

AR-180 "The Widowmaker"

The Armalite AR-180 acquired its lethal reputation in Northern Ireland. The pictures below are actually an updated version, the AR-180B, which was compliant with the AWB (fixed stock, no bayo lug, integral muzzle brake). Piston-driven "black rifes" are popular right now. It's "Back to the Future" since the AR-180 was piston-driven from the start. You can still pick up one of these for less than half the cost of a SIG556 or Ruger SR-556.

Defensive carbine, version 1

Last fall there was an article in one of the popular gun magazines describing the ideal features of a defensive carbine. The main attributes were "small" and "light." Here is my first attempt (winter time build) to achieve this.

Can you name all of the components and/or features?

Defensive carbine, version 2

This is actually almost identical to the sample build in the magazine article. The reason this is version 2 is that it took me a lot longer to get some of the parts I needed.

Again, can you name the key components and why they were chosen?

1970ish SW Model 36....Seller says he never fired it and he bought it from the original buyer who says he never fired it.
It looks like 3 cylinders have been fired at the factory.

Guys I have been following these threads for years and this was one of the most impressive starts to any month I have seen :)

It's really clean !

It sure as hell is! Wow that was a nice find. Mine (same but square butt) has seen thousands of rounds and shows it's age but still locks up tight and shoots beautifully. Some of the nickel has worn and the cylinder face has black rings but I love it as-is. [grin]

Picked up a Pro Series Model 60 last month, LOVED the grips, bought this Model 36 last week & called S&W and bought a set of the Pro Series grips for it...

I picked up a Remington 700 SPS last week, but I didn't have time to get in into the April thread. It's chambered in .30-06, with stainless steel and a synthetic stock. I also got a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 scope.

I don't think I did too bad for my first time out with it:

Seeing that .45 is the first time I've ever been even slightly tempted to own a Glock.

Amazing wheel guns to start off the month! My only acquisition this month is 250 rounds of 9mm for my new Sig to digest, WWB and UMC.

Seeing that .45 is the first time I've ever been even slightly tempted to own a Glock.

Pretty sure that's a FOTAY

Correct, model 27 is the big fotay. The model 30 is the compact .45 offering.

Also, $450 for a 3rd gen with night sights is ROBBERY! Congrats lewis, great buy.

Haha, I saw finger grooves and rounded slide edges so I figured it was a 3rd gen. What are the differences in the 2.5 vs. 3rd gens?

I honestly don't know for sure. I looked on glocktalk and my prefix is DTD and apparently that's a 2.5 gen. Maybe because it doesn't have a rail. But I don't think 27's ever have rails.
