New acquisitions for September 2007

The gun is old but the stock is new.

Fulton Armory M14 with a JAE-100 stock.

These are pretty crappy pics compared to what I normally do but it was midnight and I was tired. I may post some better ones if I feel like it.

Take it from a guy who specializes in crappy pics, those are not crappy [grin]

Not my picture, but this M39 arrived today. Not the best shape I've ever seen a rifle in, but definitely shootable once I clean her up. Now the question is, do I fill the gouge on the left hand side of the stock or leave it?

the finn rifles are sooooo much nicer than the russian ones

Thats cause almost all Finn stocks are Arctic Birch.
It was prefered for its strength. I like it because the harsh weather conditions where the trees grow cause them to bend and twist resulting in some incredible grain/figure to the wood. [grin]

No idea what all the markings mean, but I'll find out. That's half the fun, finding out what I have. And no grief about the scope, please. I know it's not original, I know it'll make reloading a PITA, but I'm finding I shoot a whooole lot better with a scope than iron sights... something about seeing the sights clearly does it, I think. [laugh]

Don't know if this one'll ever get named. We'll see how she shoots.

The guys over at Parallax Bill's forums would be able to tell you what the markings mean.
Rifle looks great. You may need a cheek rest for the scope. Even on the Enfield sniper rifles they used wooden ones attached to the stock because the scopes sat high compared to how the butt of the stock is straight and low.

Ross, take the scope off. You'll find that the Enfield is a very easy to shoot gun, very accurate, very easy to sight.

Mrs. Pilgrim shoots mine VERY well and she's not even much of a rifle shooter.

BTW, it's a beauty. Mine looks like it went thru the war...come to think of it, it probably did.

I knew that someone would be along to tell me to lose the scope... [smile] You win the prize, Dennis!

It's not the sights, it's my eyes and glasses that are the problem. At 25 meters, I literally cannot see the 400 yard target on an AQT target (like Fred sells at fredsm14stocks.com). Put a 2x scope on the rifle and I'll do nice tight groups all day long.

I think I'm gonna keep the scope. [wink]

A temp pic until I can find some time to take a couple pics in the sunlight:

Mossberg 590 Special Purpose complete with bayonet lug. (Up yours, Mass!)

BEAUTIFUL pic! The 590 is at the top of my short list for guns to buy.

Nothing says "I don't mess around" like a 12 guage with a big-ass knife sticking off of it! [smile]

Based on Cudda's pic it just moved up on my list. I think that bad boy could just about make an anti soil themselves. [smile]

Just picked up this at Northeast Trading Post: SIG P228, manufactured in 1990.

Hoping to get out to Mansfield this weekend to try it out.
