New acquisitions September 2024

New to the herd, but I don't have free time to pick her up until a week from Monday: Astra 600/43, post-war issue, very likely German Police judging by the matching (spare) mag numbered "2"
ETA: Brought her home today and she's looking better than in the pics. One happy camper!

I bought it from a friend of a friend who was thinking of selling. It wasn’t cheap as I paid $500 for it. About $200 less than the going rate. Still shocks me when I see a 60rnd brick go for $125 and up.
The going rate is insane. Over here private sales (there will be no more from Switzerland) are running about $1.20/round, too.
I have about 4 full ones left, squirreled away when the were about half of that.

Let us know which one you like more.
I busted the budget in advance of the October deadline with these two purchases - both were close to the same price out of the door (1,300/1,400).

I'm an intermediate shooter...so take my impressions in that context. I've shot about 800 rounds through the Shadow (including a red dot class with Flintlock Training Kisspik002 which was great by the way, you should sign up) and 500 through the Prodigy. The big blocky/chunky grip on the Springfield feels less natural to me and doesn't sit in my hand at all as well as the Shadow. Both seem well made, and tight although the CZ feels tighter and more composed somehow.

I think they're accurate? I mean I'm not super accurate, so I have no business expressing that opinion in the first place.

I've ordered a Cajun Gun Works Pro kit for the CZ with a straighter trigger and lower weight stuff...and after watching lots of videos (the best are from a charming Canadian woman called CZ FanGrrl CZ FanGrrl ) I'm ready to take it apart and install the kit.

Next step for me is to put myself and these pistols through their paces at some action shooting practices/events.

Awesome. Can’t wait to hear which one runs better in competition.

The EGW Prodigy ignition kit is well worth it. The springfield hammer isnt bad but you can see under magnification that the sear is intentionaly heavy and creepy. Plus they are m.i.m. parts. The EGW parts are a million times better.
I went with an Atlas Xline modular trigger bow while I was at it. Was able to go from a creepy gritty 5-6 lbs to a nice clean 3 lb.
Still getting used to the grip shape but the texture is very good.

I’ve been spending some time finishing a collection. Finally happened yesterday courtesy of Dean Safety:

Got the Government Model in the upper right yesterday. The others were purchased over the past several years. A lot of other 1911s have come and gone over those years.

Now I can back to focusing on shotguns (focusing on C&Rs and O/Us).

I’ve been out of these “new acquisition” threads for too long.

Obviously there are a lot of great firearm stores and Four Seasons is always at the top of the list.

Got an e-mail the other day, called yesterday to make sure they had more than one in stock.

Good thing too because me and another guy stood shoulder to shoulder and each bought one less than two hours ago.

I’ve wanted one for a while and now I have one.

Plus they threw in 200 rounds.

Just need to pick up a few extra mags and get this baby out to the range.

I’m stoked!!!!
