Visiting Utica, NY, where friends say the new background check on ammunition is a nightmare. One got denied, went through the appeal process, and had to go before a judge to get their record cleared. People are just scared to buy ammo at all.

Folks were driving to PA to buy ammo, but many shops put a 3-box limit per caliber as their inventories were being wiped out for local users by NY residents.

No. No, they didn't.

New York (the state) is the dog being wagged by its tail (the City). The City is the home of Tammany Hall - one of the original "machines" - and remains the quintessential Donkdom. You can rest assured the Donkeytron Cheat-O-Matic is fully installed there, and has been for a long time now.

lol at the they didn't vote for it responses

By staying in that state they sure did. Not only voted for it, but they're paying for the pleasure with their sales, income, and property taxes. Literally funding anti 2A causes if you are in an anti state.

Moving is not always possible, but 95% of the times it is whether it is now or a delayed move after retiring and giving up the business or a delayed move after a loved one you're caring for passes.

The population of NY CITY is about 8.46 million. The population of NY State, including the city is 19.84 million. NY CITY has less than 50% of the overall population. The tail is not wagging the dog. The entire place is filled with leftists. They have reaped what they sowed. we have a second home in Florida and I’ve met plenty of NYers. From in and out of the city. Even the gun owners lean anti gun. Why? Because they still haven’t figured out that apeassmen does not work. So they are willing to compromise to agree to a compromise and make things less bad. Which as we on this board know is still bad.

my only lament is that the movers to Florida and to a lesser extent NH are tax movers not really gun movers. Had the republi crats not limited the state / local tax deduction these folks might have stayed in NY and kept voting there.

Actually, it is the cities running the state. If you add Albany, Rochester, and Buffalo to the NYC numbers the folks in the center of the state have no say.

Hey dumbass, in MA they don't do background checks at each ammo purchase, yet.
You really enjoy showing off your ignorance, don't you? No, instead of a name-based background check for ammunition purchase we get mandatory gun safety courses for first time applicants, interviews, fingerprints, photographs (with the same equipment and in the same room they book criminals!) and fork over a $100 fee for the ordeal. Repeat every 6 years. Just to possess a firearm or even one round of ammunition. At least New Yorkers can own a long gun and ammunition in their own homes without any type of license.

Kind of like saying MA gun owners voted for the likes of those who came up with HD 4607. [thinking]

Population centers destroy freedom. The libs in the inner city complaining about illegals, certainly voted for it. The gun owners in NY certainly did NOT vote for any of this.

and none of what you just described is a background check for ammo.

the closest you'll get is checking for an LTC, but I've never seen even the most conservative shops actually verify one.

Would overwhelming the libs in city center utopias with illegals and more and more crime finally make them reconsider their voting options and listen to some of the red candidates and perhaps get themselves some gun rights while they're at it? lol no.

So how does that equate to a background check every time you buy a box of ammo, some primers, or even just some bullet heads?????? I wasn't talking about overall licensing, etc. in my comment, but you be you (Maura/Day talking piece) and give me a detailed rundown on licensing and say it's the same as a background check each time I buy a single round.

We've already been well-vetted. The LTC or FID is proof positive of that. What could they possibly want from us next? A stool sample?

We all agree on that.

But none of that is Ammunition Background checks. Like in the thread title. Like in the rest of the thread. Like everyone except you is talking about.

Because they don't have to, showing a valid LTC or FID is enough to cover the shop backside.

It is like getting carded at a liquor store or venue. By law in MA, last I heard, the only acceptable form of ID a establishment could accept and not get hung out to dry if the person was under the legal age was a. Massachusetts Driver’s License; Massachusetts Liquor Identification Card; Massachusetts Identification Card;
a Passport Issued by the United States or a government that is officially recognized by the United States; a Passport Card for a Passport issued by the United States; or a Military Identification Card.

Try buying a beer at the Xfinity Center with a NH drivers license.

The clowns that put together 4607 did not get voted in by liberals only, we have plenty of gun owners that vote for them. We wouldn't have such an upside down State Legesature if they didn't.

So what if they are the people waiting on that "delayed move"?

NY gun owners need SIGNES to compromise for them. I vote we buy him a one way ticket to NY.

doing something like moving IS impossible for most people until they see the threat that lay before them. some people are so self-absorbed that they can't see the danger.

The election of senators, as opposed to their appointment by the state legislature as spelled out in the constitution, is another problem. The Senate would be a far more conservative body if we returned to that practice.

Most pertinent to your comment, which is spot on is the expansion of the voting franchise to renters. This happened around the same time, 1916. It used to be that in order to vote, one had to own real property, otherwise a person would have no stake in the system. Now, the mendicant classes have discovered the joy of “voting themselves largesse from the public treasury” and decadent urban centers control the voting patterns of entire states. It’s the difference between a democracy and a republic.
