A couple years old, but interesting take on prepping as disaster planning (like floods) for civil war.

I disagree about the need for a tinfoil hat for that article. He makes a great case for prepping that is hard to refute.

Makes sense, if you are prepped for zombies, a three day flood is just a dry run to work out the kinks. Fix the problems and wait for the zombie horde.

This was why I lost weight, got off my ass and got into better shape, got off 7 meds and put food and other supplies ahead.

if someone drops a nuke on Boston, there's not much that can be done, but everyday type issues, I am (somewhat) prepared

That was actually interesting. Puts things into a reasonable perspective. Be prepared, to any degree, is a wise choice. He hits the nail on the head as far as owning a rifle. Rifle, some fishing gear, and the ability to dress and butcher your kill goes a long way. A rifle is not just for protecting your castle. It will feed you. Some knowledge regarding the edible plants will also go a long way. I'm working on that one.
