School me on Lever Actions (please?)

I'm told that they moved the manufacturing facility, and until recently, Rossi had not shipped any guns in almost two years. Steve's Gunz | "The Rossi 92 Specialist" has one of the new ones in stock now. Hopefully the Rossi 92's will come back in larger numbers through one importer or another.

Yes it is. Range days having to shoot shot gun in the CG with slugs was awful.
The only time I consider a trip to the range "work" is when I sight my 12 gauge in for deer season. I usually am comfortable with my sights after 5-10 slugs And I'm glad I'm done.
45 slugs in one sitting? Dude......That's torture.
A buddy of mine took his 15 year old son to the range with me once with a new shotgun for his boy for deer season. He brought 20 slugs for him. His boy asked how many rounds did you bring......dad said 20. Kid says "man that's all"?!?! Dad said if you fire all 20 don't worry Walmart down the road I'll go buy you more. They left with slugs left over lol

There's been alot of bitching & griping about the drought of missing Rossi 92's for about the past year (none to be found).
However, I do think that some of the 20" models (.357 & 45LC) are supposed to be trickling-in now.
I'm just glad I picked up a 16" model in .357 when I did about 4 years ago. I installed a leather lever cover on it. I still have a lot of tweaking and other work that I'd like to do on it when I have the free time.

I have a 22" 1895 in 45-70 and its a fun rifle to shoot and hunt with. I love the thing. Its my go to brush type gun. Leverevolution ammo is a bit of a kicker out of it, but not too bad.

Wow, I didn't know about the Rossi M92 drought. I started looking for an inexpensive lever gun in .357 a few years back and settled on the M92, 20"bbl, blued. I must have grabbed it just before the drought? I got it shipped to a local FFL through a Gunbroker sale. I did some research on how to make it better than factory and ended up replacing the plastic follower with a steel one, replacing the stupid useless safety with a blank, and I want to say I swapped out a spring or something to lighten the action but now I don't remember. Just recently I found out by doing some reading that a lot of these guns have random issues with kicking out live rounds, which mine absolutely does, quite often. Apparently you need to shim the right side cartridge guide with a piece of brass like .015" thick or so. That is my next project.
ETA: Actually maybe I should just put it in the classifieds for like $750 if they're that much of a hot commodity right now. LOL

Found some time to hit the range. Nice rainy day no one around to witness my shoulder explode. First time shooting a lever gun and first time shooting a 45-70. Some kick. Biggest round I shot prior is 308.
I was having a issue at first shot 3 rounds and then went to shoot 3 more and it had trouble chambering. I took it apart sprayed some balistol seemed to fix the issue. Wasn’t smooth to me though. Again first time with a lever gun so it could be all on me. Anyone else’s input please.

Just going to throw this in here as I already posted it in another thread. my Marlin (.44 Mag.) like almost all of the lever action cowboy guns I have tried doesn't like to be cocked and loaded in any other position other than truly vertical . Mine jams or crushes the shell in any other position.
All of mine can all be canted and/or tilted a bit with no ill effects, unless the gun doesn't really like that particular ammo any which way.
New gun. See if the problem persists as it wears in.
Recently bought a new Rossi 92 44 mag with the 20” barrel. I slicked it up pretty good with some polishing and springs from Steve’s Guns. Slicker then snot now. Had some pretty stout 44 mag loads I had loaded for my Ruger super Blackhawk. That Rossi steel butt plate is not so comfortable after 20 rounds. I made it to 30 but that was it for the first range trip. I’m pretty happy with it for sure though. So , at least they are trickling through.
Even when they don't hurt, the thing I don't like about metal butt plates is that they tend to slide on the shoulder when you try to cycle the action while staying in the sights. My solution is leather. I've used

I shoot pretty mild .38 reloads through my Rossi. It's a kitten with those. With factory .357's it's got quite a bit more kick!
I find the same with my Marlin 1894 and .44 Specials compared to .44 Magnums.
I don’t recall now that I’m thinking about it. I would say the first 3 rounds, gave it some good action it was working good. Feeling the thumps maybe I did start to move the lever slower.
I did end up taking this thing apart completely and just went through every part put it back together does feel smoother after doing that. Need to go test out again.
Gosh, the Henry rifles I tried just seemed SO slick. I can't imagine they would have these sort of issues.
Do they make Henry rifles in .444, .45-70, .450 Marlin, or even .35 Whelen or .35 Remington? I know they have .44 Magnum and 30-30.
