Shotgun for (Mobile) self defense ?

You slipped in the storing it properly part there. How would you know if it’s properly stored? Would you have to learn the laws in all 50 states?
😂😂😂👍👍👍
That is literally what you quoted. I didn’t slip anything in. Go back and read it for yourself.

What you posted was clearly incorrect and nonsensical. Reading your other posts, it’s clear to me that I’m being trolled by someone who adds no value to any discussion that they post in. I’m done responding to someone like you.

The regulations on bringing firearms into Canada literally changed earlier this month -- if you want to attempt to comply with the regs, you'd likely have to ask them about a specific weapon.

Within the United States, don't expect FOPA to shield you unless you don't plan to stop anywhere except for food, gas, and lodging. Should so much as stop at a scenic overview, FOPA may not apply. My reading of New Jersey law is that a visit to the Jersey Shore or the Atlantic City casinos would subject you to being charged with illegal possession of any shotgun unless you had said "pretty please" and applied for a firearms purchaser identification card. All the more reason to avoid New Jersey IMO.

You also have to be concerned about tribal law. For example, the New York State Thruway passes through the Seneca Reservation, and I have no clue what their laws are.

So even if you keep a pump-action shotgun unloaded and in a locked case, there's still some risk of getting harassed and/or charged. Only you can weigh the risks and benefits.

Hi All,

Lots of great feedback - thanks !

I'd like to avoid not so very friendly states but the whole purpose of this trip(s) are to experience all the great sights and national/state parks in the country. After, I come home and buy a boat

I'm not primarily interested in locked and loaded in my vehicle (hidden or otherwise). More for more remote camping sites (my new camper has an ideal setup for boondocking) than travel - so people and critters at oh-dark-thirty.... I figure with a really big truck I can get away from/run over whatever is in my way. lol

I had already figured that a pump with 4 round capacity was going to be the best route - nice to hear the same here.

Also, as far as Canada, I was under the impression that (as long as they're declared for hunting, lol, purposes or such that it's perfectly legal. Not true ?
If you're staying on NPS/BLM land, be sure to check what their stuff says. I know there was a fight a while back over guns on national park land, don't remember how it turned out.
