I've shot both, and to me they shoot the same. The CZ already has night sights installed, so that doesn't add or detract that when comparing it to the Sig. Any reason that I should pick one over the other?

I have the chance to buy either one (and, no, not the funds to buy both, before someone puts that little girl meme up. LOL).

I have the sig. it’s a beautiful shooter. I will say that it’s thick in the grip for such a relatively small gun, but, it sounds like you shot both so you know that. Reliability long term I would go with the sig. for all of their faults with their striker fired pistols, their “200” series of guns are rock solid.

Now I want to try out the CZ!

It’s not really an M11. The real one was a 228, whereas the A1 is a 229. Same thing, basically, but with a machined as opposed to a folded slide. Never shot the CZ, but both guns have really good reputation. I guess 229 mags are more plentiful, and everything 229 has a much better aftermarket support, if that’s important to you.

Have both and like both. Mags for both pistols are easily available. The Sig has an available factory slide that will take a RMR while the P-01 would have to be milled. Both have great aftermarket support so it would come down to which pistol fits you better.

An M11 will outlast your grandkids. I think the CZ might be just a tad more accurate and lower bore axis so faster follow up shots. I shoot the sigs very well so I don't have any reason to switch.

The CZ doesn’t have all that low of a bore axis. While the slide has a narrow profile above the frame, the frame is taller to account for the internal rails.

It’s an optical illusion. Probably lower than the M11, but not “low”.

All of you are not helping. LOL. Seems evenly split, just like my reasoning. Mags (10rd and regular) are available for both. As I mentioned, the CZ already has night sights on it. I like the idea
that the M11/P229 has a machined slide vs. folded (although it is more complicated to change the extractor on the new-style slide). I'd just have to make sure to get the P229-1 mags for the Sig (vs. the P228/229 no dash) for older models. To me, the CZ mags seem more readily available, and most all CZ75 mags will work, vs. Sig with making sure which version they are.

I've got the Sig P226 and P220(.45) and have always wanted to pick up a P229, I even prefer the M11-A1 version over the other 229s.

I've also got the Shadow2 compact and have rethought the 229 option, if I were to walk into a shop and both were there I'd more than likely walk out with the P-01.

Okay, I might walk out with both. [laugh]

low-er. the sig grip is high but I have massive hands so as a percentage the higher bore axis isn't as impactful. The CZ has a classic euro grip ergos too, with the big palm swell for comfy open grip shooting.

I rented a Shadow Orange, and damn that is one tight pistol. Really smooth action. Cool recoil impulse. I'm used to the sig technique of holding on with lower fingers and closing grip, needed less aggressive grip to get what felt like faster follow up shots. I only count A zone hits as hits. Both the Sig and Shadow will make fist sized groups at 50 yards if you're up to the task.

Get a 2022!

I am a big fan of my M11-A1, it comes with factory Sig Lite nightlights that I believe are tritium based.

Do all the P01s have issues or just the Omega? I prefer the P01 to the Sigs by a small margin. Mine is an Omega.

Standard P01s pass NATO testing for issuance as a service pistol. They’re reliable, though not quite as long of a mean rounds between failure as some of the other common service pistols.

The Omegas have a specific issue of the decocker walking off in DA/SA mode. But it’s not all Omegas. Most seem to be just fine, but it does happen to some.

which has better mag availability?
I'd say definitely the CZ. Factory and aftermarket. Sig is mostly factory, although Mec-Gar is putting out some after-market. I did some more research after my intial post. The used CZ I'm looking at is an Omega (set to decock). I hadn't heard about any issues with them until @Varmint 's post. I also looked at the weights again. Wow! 5 ounces heavier loaded for the Sig. In my younger days, no big deal.

I would not buy any CZ with a decocker.

More complicated and harder to do a trigger job on.

Plus I don’t think it’s necessary.

I did my Omega trigger and my Sp-01 decocker and I would rather do the SP-01. It really wasn’t hard at all.

I like the omega decocker but I want a P-01D to match my SP-01

Either way. Still better than Sig. you won’t have any product support when Sig is sued out of business for their garbage designs.
