Subcompact 1911 in 9mm

I have a Dan Wesson ECO purchased used. It might as well have been new for the condition. So perfect that I have not disassembled the lower. 9mm. Feeds anything. No complaints.

The field strip of the upper uses a paper clip. Necessary evil I think owing to the short barrel length. Light. Easily carried.
Look into a toolless guide rod from Dawson or Atlas.

Sub compact 1911's in 9mm really do not run reliably. The gun was never designed as a sub compact 9mm. If really want a sub compact 1911 look for one in 45acp. At least you will have fighting chance. Just.my 2cents from years of experience.
Of course there well be others that will chime in with I have this model or that model and never had a problem. They must be the lucky ones and they should go out and by a Mega Bucks ticket.

Even my 1911-pattern 9mm CCO will stove pipe if you shoot it limp-wristed

I know you said 1911 but have you considered other options? I have a CZ75 compact that's a good shooter and has a 15 round magazine unless you're in a shithole like Ma.

The short 1911s have a ton of reliability issues. Doubly true for 9mm variants.

You want a short barrel compact 9mm? Is a DAO polymer pistol with its better reliability really that bad?
I totally get why people would want to avoid polymer pistols. Striker fired triggers simply suck. They all do- it's just a matter of which ones suck less and/or can be made tolerable with aftermarket bits. I have more striker fired pistols than 1911's and hammer fired Sigs, but none of them have awesome triggers. Never owned one but I've seen the reliability issues with the short 1911's.

@C_johnsen take a look at the Sig M11-A1 version of the P229:

If you want a 100% reliable single action with higher capacity I would suggest a Sig P29 Legion SAO Fantastic trigger. I own both a
P229 P226 Legion SAO with red dot optics. But I like all metal guns. JMO

Exactly. What’s the point? My 9mm Springer RO is a hoot to shoot. Some days, I imagine the fun of owning a .38 Super or 9x23. Then I have a cup of coffee and move on….

Mine has been reliable with ball and Gold Dots, other Hollow points have been unreliable feeding wise. But I only have 100 rounds though it, so no real data otherwise.

Since the thread has gone off the rails as usual/expected and now, in true NES fashion, people are chiming in with recommendations nowhere near what OP requested, might I also recommend a Browning Hi-Power?

Why? You have a thing for magazine safeties?
