We FINALLY get the law that will help us!

This bill is as stupid as I thought. The only good thing in it is that non residents of MA who don’t have a MA LTC will be able to carry a loaded handgun on their person in a vehicle in MA.
I'm still trying to catch up, help me out, where is this?

The number of downvotes (negative comments) on my post is astounding.

You 2A MAGA freaks are unreasonable.

Why is the requirement for live-fire training "unreasonable" to you?

As a firearms instructor responsible for writing these people off to the MSP that they are capable with their firearm, why would you be comfortable doing so without seeing how they handle the gun when they fire the first shot?

Remember! Many many people who are getting their license for their first time, have NEVER fired a shot with their shiny new pistol.

If you are an instructor, and pass them without live-fire training? You are complicit in the kid next door who got killed because the person you just licensed didn't know how to handle .357 recoil.

Lol "here we go" .

Someone that thinks a few hrs of live fire magically makes someone safe or competent. 🤣

That's NOT THE POINT, Mr. Pointy!

It is ONE STEP CLOSER to them not taking away our ability to have guns, because our licensing laws were lacking. Why is the live-fire requirement so onerous?

Can't afford it? Then step-down from the S&W performance center 1911. Jesus.

Think outside the box, man!

Do you think /they/ give a shit? 🤣

This 116 page pile of obstructionist excrement they just shat out proves that they don't.

This requirement is just another means of driving up costs and deterring licensure.

You are out of your mind. If you as an instructor cannot figure out how to offset the cost of this to your business? Then there is not much hope for you.

This has nothing to do with "instructors costs. " But you are too dense to comprehend that.

You think that trying to placate "them" accomplishes something. The reality is it only gives "them" free wins by increasing the height of barriers to licensing. It is inherently obstructionist by design. It has absolutely no grounding in "making people safer with firearms".

I think we are not communicating about the same idea?

Pease don't point at me.

My point is there's no win for us here by increasing barriers. So noobs are not only faced with a limited palette of guns, and a more complex training requirements, etc. This collectively has the side effect of randos going "im not going to bother". I know this mentality because I was one of those people, ages ago, who dragged my feet on the whole process in part because it was burdensome.

"The Supreme court says handguns are a God-given right. I'll tell you what...If Jesus had had one, it would have been a totally different Easter." - Stephen Colbert, July 2010.
But sadly, he was crucified while he waited for an appointment to complete his live fire safety instruction.

You're not very big on individual responsibility, are you? Not even going to bother asking about your stance on liberty.

So you think having someone fire 50 rounds in a class is somehow going to turn them into a grandmaster level shooter???

We’ve got enough bullshit to deal from this latest pile of shit gun bill and we have folks like yourself that claim to be on our side celebrating with the new training requirements. Jesus f***ing christ

This is like the cash rebate sales method. I don’t see it much anymore, but remember back when you would buy a TV or something and be offered a $200 cash rebate? All you had to do was mail in the form inside the box or whatever.

They did the rebate because they knew 80% of buyers would either forget or just blow it off because of the work involved in filling out a form and mailing it out. 10 minutes of work tops, but most people wouldn’t do it.

So now on top of going to the police station to get the paperwork, filling it out, going back to hand it over, make an appointment to get fingerprints done, maybe an interview with the chief….you have to take a day off work and go to some range to basically take a “road test” with your gun of choice?

Also, if live FIRE training is a requirement for an LTC, do you have to qualify on a state owned gun?
