No, those were a bunch of young female rhesus monkeys. They're staying around the center and taking food from the staff, but they can't catch them. the center's director said that they're just acting "goofy".
The news is playing it up as cute. What no one is talking about is that there's a strong chance that they'll all be euthanized after capture. I can't see any researcher accepting a test subject that was loose and exposed to unknown conditions in the wild.
Interesting, and I'd have to agree that they're no good as test subjects now.
That makes me wonder about the two parts I bolded above. If so, why don't they just shoot them?
