This, 100%. Door to door confiscation would trigger a war that the gov would lose. They are not stupid. They will boil the frog very slowly, which is why it's so important to not give in to even the slightest infringement. They could be crazy enough to go full totalitarian, but more likely death by a thousand cuts. Incremental legislation passed in the dead of night.

- Frederic Bastiat - The LawBut, unfortunately, law by no means confines itself to its proper functions. And when it has exceeded its proper functions, it has not done so merely in some inconsequential and debatable matters. The law has gone further than this; it has acted in direct opposition to its own purpose. The law has been used to destroy its own objective: It has been applied to annihilating the justice that it was supposed to maintain; to limiting and destroying rights which its real purpose was to respect. The law has placed the collective force at the disposal of the unscrupulous who wish, without risk, to exploit the person, liberty, and property of others. It has converted plunder into a right, in order to protect plunder. And it has converted lawful defense into a crime, in order to punish lawful defense.
How has this perversion of the law been accomplished? And what have been the results?
The law has been perverted by the influence of two entirely different causes: stupid greed and false philanthropy. Let us speak of the first.
When we become Venezuela politicians will not need people like us "to complicate" already "complicated" situation. We will be hunted down, kicked out of jobs, exposed in media and finally stripped all rights.
F me! Been there, lived in such a mess and ESCAPED here.
They will make sure that the cable stays on and the EBT cards stay loaded while they wipe out the constitution entirely. I sincerely doubt that any of us would recognize our nation in 100 years.
Yep, my family came to America for freedom. There's nowhere else to run to now that we're here. Back then college-age young people wanted to be treated like adults. Today they instead want to remain children. Here's a good piece on this subject: http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/12/campus-protests-1960s-213450Yesterday, I visited my old friend in Winchester. Former pilot. Went to Korea. He is 89 years old in a great shape. Lives alone but he is very active and participates in many things. He has told me that America after Second Wold War started sucking wind and what we have now is something he can't comprehend. He said that in 1940 17-years old was and adult. Today, 50-years old man is a baby. He also said that back then it was important to get somewhere. Today, it is important to be everywhere. He has told me that when he is outside of his home he feels like he is visiting a movie set full of colorful characters without any parts to play.

I made a decision years ago - not playing anymore. I'll stand-pat for now, pass something else, basically anything else that is stupid or anti-constitutional and all your previous stuff 'if we could get just this bill', I consider null and void and will act accordingly.
Come get me. My last traffic ticket was over 13 years ago - big hardened criminal I am.
Will the civilian disarmament industrial complex's actions result in a new American revolution?
How's it gonna go down?
They don't even need to take our guns. They can just wait until we die and our kids will turn them in. I talked to someone recently who was telling me that they 'turned in' their father's M1 when he died because they didn't want a weapon in their house. Guy fought at Normandy. /facepalm
We will have a civil war, imo, but not the way you describe. I think it'll be started by some big event, likely another Great Depression. The country is already extremely divided and angry, and when the Depression hits, and people see how the big banks and government are the only ones with jobs, still living it up, while the rest of the country is living on food stamps, that'll trigger civil unrest. The government might fuel the fire by going after guns and cranking up taxes on the working classes.
Oh yeah, sure. Civilians at war against the government? Sorry, I don't have anything that can stop an A-10 or an F-15, or a M1A1

The Mustang's guns are long gone....
I think it will start when Texas secedes.

Neither did the Afghans.
Nor did the Vietnamese. The one unknown is that will all of .mil take orders from a tyrannical government and fire upon civilians, especially if their families are involved?
