Your beloved president with his ne AG pick. Yeeehhh she definitely is going to go down on ATF. Maybe go down TO ATF.

OMG, a politician doesn’t completely align with me! I feel so stupid for voting for him!
After the recent TX v DOL case regarding the raise of the federal minimum for exempt admin employees to a reasonable dollar anount only to be shot down by a Trump appointed judge... I do have some regrets.

Bigger issue for us is who will run ATF. That's the pick that matters. Maybe she's there to clean house at FBI. I hope so. Trump's first couple of days seemed bright. But he's not that bright. He can get distracted by shiny things.

That's what happened 8 years ago. His mandate went out the window because he's always concerned with how a person or group perceives him. It's what we bought. It was better than the alternative by a long shot but it means we are going to be hand-wringing for 24 months until we lose seats in the mid-terms and it's all moot anyhow.

While Trump may not care much about guns and gun issues, I bet he's smart enough to know that gun people got him elected. Let a real anti-gun measures go through, and he'll lose that vote completely. I'm not talking fringe bump stock moves, but real moves that hurt Mr. and Mrs. Smoh's ability to buy and own guns as they see fit. While he is just going to be a one termer, I can't imagine he'd sink the Republican part over it. Need Vance to win to carry out his legacy.

Like or hate Trump, he at least didn't seat three far left gun hating progressive ideologs on SCOTUS. Can you image where we'd be with three more like Sonia Sotomayor, or Elena Kagan, or Ketanji Jackson on the SCOTUS bench instead of Amy Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh?

What shocks (but doesn't surprise) me is after Bondi presents the anti-4A legislation and says "let local LE come in and take the guns", Trump's immediate response is "Good. You want to take the guns first and skip the legal process". Pretty slimy on Trump who campaigned "..and we will protect your 2nd Amendment rights. Gotta have the guns gotta have them.". I hope journalists hold his feet to the fire and press him on any anti-2A rhetoric from Bondi after the country's 2A community unanimously supported him.

It’s wild that some of you haven’t figured out Trump isn’t a “gun guy”.
Exactly, none of them really are.

Secure the border, flush the new green deal down the toilet, improve the economy by opening up US energy and negotiating better trade deals through tariffs as needed, stop sending taxpayer money to spill blood in foreign lands, protect free speech and nominate sane judges. Guns aren't near the top of my concern list at this point. I'm keeping my guns either way and so many other things are completely f***ed.

I mean we are on a gun forum but I agree, with so much going on “muh gunz” doesn’t even matter.
And if/when it’s “time” the legality will be the last thing in anyone’s mind

All that he had 4 years to do. NONE of that was done

8 years ago he also had to run for re-election from day 1.

There is no re-election this time.

Honest, dumb question. Do AGs tend to act unilaterally on topics like this once seated, or are they essentially puppets of the administration that brought them in?

Exactly this. Gunz aren’t even a top 10 issue for me. I’m keeping my shit no matter what the President says.

I voted for Trump primarily to avoid WW3, address illegal immigration, and give a middle finger to the Intelligence Agencies, media, and fascists that tried to install a President.

The establishment wants a dummy in that job. Some one easily molded and controlled. Instead of going after crooked politicians they go after some poor guys hardware store in Podunk that he's owned for the last 30 years. I'm just glad I voted for Chase Oliver and not this sh*t show.

Let's go, Brandon! (Brando Herrera for ATF director.)

There's a beyond decent chance that that will never happen again.
Even if it does, whatevs. Trump’s choices haven’t been great and we need to be vocal about it; but if the purists can’t accept they’d be immeasurably worse under Harris they aren’t serious people worth debating with.

Yeah, that’s just as dumb of a perspective.

His choices have been disappointing to say the least, but the reality is the squishy Republican Senators prevent disrupters like Gaetz from being confirmed.
The only thing s want from Trumps 4 years is to do the opposite of what a democrat would do. My main concerns are the border and WW3 right now.

my opinion on the 2A is that it’s just a matter of time and it will be gone. It’s going to happen, it won’t lead to a civil war and no republican gives a wet fart.

Unfortunately I think you’re right. I look at Trump as a speed bump to authoritarianism. But I have a substantially better chance of not dying in a thermonuclear war than I did a month ago.

It's not about "da gunz". It's about "the Right". Rights are at the top of my list. Fine drill oil, close the border, but have your rights chipped away? Skip due process? I applaud Trump for many things, but his AG pick is not familiar with the Bill of Rights.
