When the media says "we've had 500 mass shootings already THIS YEAR!" you gotta wonder wtf is a mass shooting?

By some definitions I thought it was any event where a gun was discharged and at least four people were injured. Someone could shoot a blank pistol in a park causing panic and four people tripped and scraped their knees or twisted their ankles. Mass shooting. Other methods of definition I think are three people directly shot at least. Hard to say which method of counting the media pulls these numbers out of their ass. Could be a sum combination of "mass shootings" from all the methods of counting.

Mass Shooting had been redefined and twisted so badly by gun grabbers who even knows?

My ingrown toenail will probably qualify as a mass shooting when I finally get up the nerve to dig it out.

The attempt by health care professionals to not “stigmatize” suicidal people seems to get in the way. Odds are they will harm themselves without harming others, but taking guns away from everyone appears to be the preferred solution.

It's the health care "professionals" that are the big drug dealers to these kids and their parents. They have a vested interest in pointing the blame elsewhere and they both want to avoid fault and to admit their narrative is completely false.

Depends, is there a gun within 100' of the toe being assaulted? Are multiple toes involved in the assault in any way? How about the nail, did you have to cut it into multiple pieces or could you cut it all out in one large chunk? Did you make "finger guns" at all while performing the operation?

If you said yes to any of these questions, you may be the victim of a mass shooting!


Also, my sympathies. I've dug out more than a few ingrown toenails myself. I get shit now for leaving my toenails long, but the wife has never had to deal with recurring ingrown toenails.

1-2% overall and ~5% of youngsters “self-identify” as trans/bi. Only they could know if it’s true or not and they’re not to good at knowing who they are or aren’t. But what such poll number mean, who can tell?

In the 60s/70s, kids could “self-identify” as Greasers by greasing their hair back, wearing jeans, a black leather jacket and cigs rolled in a white T-shirt sleeve. Nowadays, even they can’t figure out what combination of LGBTQAI+ one another are without wearing symbols and exchanging pronouns.

Yep - follow the money. Most insurance policies have limited psych visits per year but reimburse daily doses of drugs. Big Pharma has more lobbyists than Am Psych Assoc. Weekly psych visits out-of-pocket are time-consuming for parents, very costly and iffy as far an efficacy. We’re a sick society, unfortunately, with no motivation to get better.

If I remember correctly there was a female shooter in California that walked onto the Apple Campus and started shooting a few years back. I think she was black or latino so the story disappeared pretty quick.

Not all teachers should be armed. The ones that get training and want to carry. Who are capable, I don't think anyone is suggesting that all teachers should be armed.

But I have thoughts of teaching high school computer science and math when I'm older, sort of as a retirement job. You know damn well I will jump at carrying.

Just to be clear, I have thoughts, when I sober up I think better of it.

It would be great to see willing teachers to arm, though I think that number is pretty low for elementary school teachers. Not to stereotype, but I would bet most elementary school teachers aren’t the core gun owning group, not in the northeast anyway. It would be nice to also have some sort of auxiliary volunteer group of citizens who could be background checked and trained and then have them patrol, even if it’s just the outside property and the entries, but that’s a whole other can of worms for people to complain about.
