686 or GP100

Anybody own them both? Which do you prefer to shoot and why? My wallet can only afford one of them and any info would be appreciated.

I have owned and shot both. The 686 is a more "finished" gun with a better trigger (in general). The GP100 is a well made tank that will stand up forever even with the hottest loads. They are both excellent revolvers in my opinion. Personally, I prefer the 686.

I've shot both, but own the 686. Tthe 686 fits better in my hands. Looks better in my opinion as well.

The GP100 is a nice gun. Shoots well and is very nice mannered even with the hot loads.

Was thinking of a GP-100 for quite a while. Finally had a chance to shopt one over the summer. Boy, did that not feel right in my hands.

My quest for a 4" or 6" .357 revolver continues.

I own both 6 inch models and yes the d.a. trigger on the 686 is alittle better, but is it worth paying about 100 or more $$ is something to think about. Both models great guns you can't go wrong with either.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going with the 686. I went to Four Seasons today and it just felt right.

I've got both and they're both great guns.
Both of mine have good triggers and shoot equally well.
I might have to give the edge to the Smith for having more grip options and probably better resale value.
Glad I don't have to pick just one.
