Active Shooter Situation in Lewiston Maine

We have a tendency to regard criminals like this as having super-operator type skills, has made an escape and is hundreds of miles away, plotting his next atrocity.
We're usually wrong.
I guess those guys are out there, but 9 times out of 10, the simplest explanation is correct; he's killed himself

I can't believe we haven't heard an interview with his Reserve unit commander. Or maybe we wouldn't because he/she is not permitted by the DOD.

Some F-ing psycho just murdered 18 people in Maine and he's asking which one of us it is. Thats balance?

In fairness, "What's his NES screen name?" is a VERY common response around here to all kinds of gun-related shenanigans. Though, granted, a lot of those shenanigans aren't mass murders in neighboring states.

I'm just saying it wouldn't be the first time a certain poster has misread his audience.

I agree. And even with all the planning possible, once you set the plan in motion the pants shitting starts and your plan tends to go out the window.

I said it earlier, everyone that knew this guy work wise, and knew his mental issues are in full CYA mode right now. They wont make any statement until they know exactly where the ball was dropped.

Are you me? Am I you?

Jeez, I was seriously about to say the same exact thing.

GUN RELATED SHENANIGANS.... Murdering of 18 people in Maine, those damn shenanigans.

Simply playing devils advocate here… how do we know he wasn’t a member? I think it’s a little insensitive on behalf of signes to already be making snarky jokes about something that is currently active, however I can’t deny the possibility, if the shooter and his family are gun enthusiasts, that he/they may be members here. Now, that doesn’t mean he’s an actively involved member, and it doesn’t(shouldnt) shine a negative light on the forum or any of its other members… but to automatically assume it’s impossible that a northeast-based gun enthusiast could be a member of the most popular northeast-based gun enthusiast forum is a little dismissive.

You can sling a rifle pretty easily so it's not much of a bother to carry it. When John Farnam taught his rifle and car classes, the range was hot, and everyone carried a loaded rifle on a sling for the two day class.
Yeah, its easy to do it on a sqare range but in real life, quite different.

It’s not about whether or not they are a member.

It’s insinuating that NES is full of psychopath mass murderers.

The comment also wasn’t in a vacuum.

the 10:00 press conference was somewhat educational....
there is a plan to put dive teams in the water near the boat ramp, more search warrants will be executed (and they will follow the protocol of surrounding the target address and calling for suspect to surrender), murder scenes are still being processed and probably will be for several days, shelter-in-place orders will be reevaluated on an ongoing basis, still not willing to confirm demographic info of victims beyond gender plus in the process of id'ing/family notification on 10 of 18 victims, still no determination on whether firearms hunting season will open as scheduled tomorrow, not yet willing to talk about lack of enforcement of red flag laws or jared golden's flip on aw ban.
i think sauschuk has a bit of a reputation as an anti gun dick but at least he's sticking with "just the facts" (that he can divulge) for now.

Ok that’s fair. Granted, I would be lying if i didn’t think there were a few people that portray themselves in a way I would personally define as a little too radical. Thick skin allows me to see through some of the shenanigans, but I can understand how a person more sensitive, or not understanding of inside jokes, can interpret a few people on here as a bit over the top. I’m not going to name drop, but I’m pretty sure most of us have a few members that come to mind. And what I think is over the top might not be what you, or someone else thinks is over the top… but each of us has at one point or another seen a comment or two that made us think “whoa buddy pump the brakes”

My company gets notifications from Everbridge anytime there is any sort of business interruption, severe weather etc.

One of the billeted points in a 3 page update I just got.

-The suspect was an Army firearms instructor and likely had access to firearms even with his previous mental health issues. There remains a general ease of access to firearms in the U.S. regardless of location that increases the risk of mass shootings.

Emphasis mine.

ETA: business not hairiness

I can't imagine the 'cleaning' that is going on at whatever facility he was a recent guest of. Talk about CYA.
