Active Shooter Situation in Lewiston Maine

Opening Day of general firearm season is tomorrow.
I have asmall fear in the back of my mind that they will cancel/postpone deer season in this district.

You want to start a Revolution? That's how you start a Revolution.
A bunch of armed motherf***as in the woods would probably flush him out.

No need for some vast conspiracy, what part of 'it's tough to find a single dude in a large search area'. If he's smart enough to plan it out, remember the Atlanta bomber?
What use is there in screaming at an empty Airbnb home that's probably one @mav was planning to see at an open house this weekend?

I'm just saying the resources could have gone somewhere else to look.

They probably should. A bunch of cops running around looking for a mass shooter and hunters walking around with camo and rifles. This could be a recipe for disaster.

Orange is required in Maine.

Postponing Opening Day (capitalized on purpose) would generate more controversy than any mass shooting will.

If the timing is right, can you imagine a taxpayer funded deer drive to your stand? That would be amazing until you take a shot at one of the 20 deer heading towards you. [rofl]

Maine isn’t a top choice for me, certainly not that area of Maine. Sunday River area maybe, but I’d rather be in NH.

Twitter (X) is saying he was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot. If you can't trust X, you can't trust anyone.
I haven’t seen anything about that, but, there have been reports that he left a “suicide note” addressed to his son at his home. No clue if accurate.

A) Not in the National Guard
B) No he didn’t, and the pictures prove it
C) Not a military instructor
-and-
D) If you’d spent five minutes on this thread you’d already know this
A) Reservist, close enough
B) Looks a lot like a blurry M4 with an ACOG and a fore-grip.
C) I have seen he is “certified” so
Prob just NRA instructor. Fine.
D) all 40+ pages, ha!

They should've opened deer season yesterday.
I dont know man, the last time a mentally deranged dude with a rifle went in to the woods, it didnt end well for a bunch of hunters.

Except anyone that goes hunting in Maine right now knows exactly what they would potentially find.

I'm in the Sunday River area. Great spot. Easy trip. Lots of land, and besides the 2nd homes, it's solidly red (at least the few towns I spend time in). Hanover also has a dirt cheap tax rate and no building codes.

I was thinking this as well, hunters will be leery to shoot a person with concerns about getting the wrong person. Also hunters are wearing orange, bad guy isn't, pretty easy to sneak up on a hunter and get a shot at them without being shot back.

The suspect in a Maine mass shooting, Robert Card, seems to have held extremist right-wing views, particularly against the transgender community, according to social media accounts appearing to be from him.

,,,

Card’s digital activity on X showcases possible support for damaging narratives propagated by right-wing personalities Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump Jr. Following a separate mass shooting incident in Nashville in March, Carlson posted inflammatory remarks on X, formerly known as Twitter.

...

Trump Jr. also posted on X, writing, “Given the incredible rise of trans/non-binary mass shooters in the last few years… by far the largest group committing as a percentage of population… maybe, rather than talking about guns we should be talking about lunatics pushing their gender affirming bullshit on our kids?” Card liked both posts, indicating his endorsement of these harmful ideologies.

GOAL came out and said this shooting is a direct result of a mental health crisis... Not surprisingly, they were right.

Agreeing with those posts doesn't seem like "right-wing extremism" to me.

Crap, now I am on a list.
