Who has the authority to postpone firearms opening day?? That will not go over well.

What’s the danger in letting a bunch of armed Americans walk through the woods in the dark?? Most all can hold their own as long as they don’t get ambushed. And if one gets ambushed and doesn’t come home, most people let others know where they’ll be hunting so that will narrow down the search grid…. One way to flush him out if he is in fact still breathing.

forgot to add:
a note was found in his residence but contents will not be discussed at this time.
there will be a daily 10am press briefing until the conclusion of search with a possibility of afternoon briefings if more pertinent info comes to light.

i can't give you the exact wording but it was something along the lines of the fish and game commissioner is working closely with law enforcement to make sure search teams and hunters don't have a bad encounter.

That's valid, don't want anyone getting quick on the draw whether it's a hunter shooting a LEO or more likely the other way around.
 
Obviously this affects everyone here in a different way. Honestly, anytime something like this happens, sadly my first thought is that this will be another way for them to enact yet more stringent gun laws that will affect us, not those intent on killing, rather than thinking about18 innocent people were killed!

As for the joke about it being a forum member, once again, that would be just another hit against us as gun owners and members of this forum, neither of which we need.

I realize that in the end, none of it matters as the anti-gun groups will be anti-gun regardless, but when shit like this happens, particularly with more anti-gun legislation looming, it just feeds the emotional decision making on their end and screws all of us!

For those of us in states like MA, ironically maybe we're better off; we already know we're f@cked and the odds are stacked against us. Those in so called "free states" probably have more to lose, and a lot of them falsely believe it will never happen.

In the end, whether you're a Fudd, anti Fudd, member of some protected group, member of this forum, we're all in this together whether we want to be or not, so maybe stop stirring up shit about members of the forum we all belong to and figure it out!

My wife has an aquantance who is a local and they spoke this morning. She conveyed the general consensus is he went to the bowling alley to kill his ex girlfriend who bowled there. No info on if she was there or one of the victims. Also conveyed that 'no one is sheltering in fear, we just are all carrying our guns'. Haha, I laughed at that part.
 
There are a number of reasons why I wouldn’t be surprised if the murderer had an account on this site but none of them are because he is representative of an NES member in any way. Mostly because it’s very popular for firearms owners in the region to get firearm related info from. And like it or not this person was likely a legal gun owner according to our law.

Yup, some businesses and government stuff is closed (the post office closed...), but generally people are just staying strapped and going about their business. I guess the walmart distribution center is closed though in the area and there is a huge backup of trucks waiting to unload.

I don’t doubt warden commish or whatever likely has that power written into law….not sure it’s ever been exercised before was what I’m getting at, and if it is, it won’t go over well!! May do more harm than good, IMO.

You acknowledge that it's possible for someone to remotely communicate to him through the hearing aids. His family states that he started hearing voices after getting the hearing aids. It's not insane to wonder if there's a connection between the two. It's not farfetched that bad actors would deliberately select someone with paranoia or mental illness and manipulate them to do their bidding. Given what his family said, about things starting/getting worse since he got the hearing aids, it would be insane not to investigate that possibility.

It is very common for people that hear voices to think that the voices are coming from something in/on them - dental fillings for example.

i get it.....if they do have to postpone the opener they should extend the season by however many days they postpone. not to mention the disruption of travel plans and such that people have made.
auburn and lewiston stretch over parts of 3 wildlife districts, 15,16 & 22 plus they both partially lie within a special expanded archery zone.

Right, but is it also common for it to start at 40 years old immediately after getting a set of hearing aids and retiring from the military? Typically those who experience voices/schizophrenia show symptoms in their late teens and 20's. People actually start growing out of it as they enter old-age where schizophrenics experience fewer issues if they make it into their 50's and 60's.

It was supposed to be darkly funny but, perhaps, a chance for some folks to reflect a bit on some of the things they say on these boards about transgendered and others that would make them look a lot like that description of Card in that article should they become a person of interest in something else.

These are my thoughts as well. Fair warning I am not a psychiatrist and do not know the murderers background either. But I’ve been under the impression that these types of mental diseases generally manifest themselves earlier in life. Not sure what that means for this case but the hearing aid timing is odd if he wasn’t previously experiencing issues at that age.

Not always - I've seen it 1st hand and been the one to petition for involuntary admission to a mental hospital. In my situation, the person didn't show any signs until their mid to late 40s.

I know my audience, I'm just not concerned about my popularity among folks who think 'cuck' is the insult that cuts deep. I'm not running for office or pitching a GoFundMe or trying to get brand equity for my home made jerky. Some people will like me, some won't but at least see I contribute usefully and some will hate me. Just like real life. I can't convert internet points to cash.
