Ak47

you picked the wrong rifle to convert to wood. The rear trunnion (the metal tang where the rear stock mates to the stamped receiver) on the SLR107 is meant for a folder. It won't readily accept wood.

There are enterprising individuals who custom make a wooden stock for such a styled folding trunnion, but it's all back yard / garage work.

You'd be better off selling it and buying a AKM which has the standard rear trunnion. The SLR107 is a nice rifle, though. I wouldn't mind having one someday myself. It's basically a semi-automatic 7.62x39 version of what Russians currently carry as issued rifles today.

I am starting to look for an ak.
I don't know a ton about them.I want to get a
Nice one.any suggesting???
Im not interested in a wasr-10

Thanks guys

for a first one,(and you know there will be another one) a WASR is ok. make sure you like it before you drop 1K for a preban. but hey your money. I have a Wasr-10 I got for $450 a year or two ago. I have put 1500+ rounds through it. The next time I clean it will be my first time. and BTW, it hasn't jammed or hiccuped yet. Yes it is a cheap POS, but it is a fun, easy to shoot,. low maintenance cheap POS.

true disclaimer: I clean all my guns except this one. I heard so much about the AK legend, I had to try it. I am not ready to throw it in a pile of mud for a week and see if it will shoot, or shoot it until the barrel is on fire (like you can find on Youtube) but I am now a believer. It is by far not my favorite rifle, but for what it is, i have no complaints.

Late to the party, but here's my lowly WASR:

how do you like that Obzor 1p63?

It's sweet. I just received it this week, so I haven't had the chance to take it out to the range but it's really sharp glass. I'm left handed and right eye dominant so it works perfectly for me, but my right-right friend didn't think it felt uncomfortable with a chin-weld.

The night sight is very similar to the USSS tritium sight on my PS90, with the exception of color, so it's very familiar to me. The day sight collects light from the top and bottom of the front 'ledge' so no batteries required (yet). Once the tritium dies I could probably jig up an LED illuminator to use the day sight all of the time.
