Might be a different examiner? Our regional is Chris(tina) Farris, but my form looks like it's signed by "J Bauer?"

Is Jack Bauer working for the ATF now? heh.

My examiner was Dana Pickles who isn't even assigned to our region. I submitted 2/14 and received 6/18. Your examiner might be a slow poke.
I'm addicted and love my SBR, i want more, its ridiculously awesome.

I submitted another form 1 for a Glock SBR 6/26 ,so im thinking October, hopefully my examiner is Dana again.

Funny. Just received approved email from eForms for one out of two Form1 applications. Waiting for a second one :).

So it took EXACTLY 4 month to get approved. Now to engraver place, and look for an upper for AR15 SBR.

The second SBR is UZI, so the solution is simple - just buy a barrel, not much to think about. But with the AR SBR I'm completely unprepared, didn't do my homework yet. Any suggestions? :-)

If you'd like to PM me regarding feed back about running 10.5" & 11.5" 5.56 ARs I can't give you my and my wife's experience with ours.

What's the best SBR length for an AR that doesn't sacrifice too much fps? I'm tempted to do one next.
I don't like this question. An SBR is generally for close quarters. Go as short as you want. As long as it cycles properly. I'm sure you have a 16" - 20" AR or a bolt action for longer range. If not, you should!
That being said, I would'nt want to be on the receiving end of 5.56 through a 10" barrel @ 100yds or 10'.

I guess I should rephrase that. What's the shortest common SBR length for the DI AR15 platform to be effective? Generally I see 10.5 and 8.5 in rare cases, but I'm guessing the cartridge performance suffers too much.

Usually they figure out that anything less than "X" length saps away enough fps/ft.lbs to not be effective anymore (e.g. 5"). For a Krink in 7.62x39, 8" is too short, 10" really helps bring back another 300ftps and ft.lbs desperately needed.

~10" barrel seems to be a pretty popular choice for AR15 SBRs. Mine is a Noveske w/KX3, which supposedly helps with reliability in short barrels. It runs like a champ, though I found that the KX3 makes for a little awkwardness getting the muzzle into and out of the small slots on a VTAC barricade [wink]

Not a great vid but gives you an idea. Skip to 4min to see the shooting.

In the short time i've researched the SBR accuracy subject, i've seen more videos and articles debunking the inaccuracy myth of SBR's than actually proving it inaccurate, but def not a sniper tool.

wrt the barrels, mine is a 10.5 and i have had zero issues out to 200 yards, even with subsonic ammo and the suppressor.

researching subsonic ammo i found a lot of people talking about it, how accuracy was trash beyond 25 yards, how it wouldn't even reach out past 100, blah blah blah--and before i actually fired some i believed all that. all i know now is that those people are all full of shit or just have no idea at all what they are talking about.

i'm going to be playing with some more shortly, some great minds are working on special recipes. honestly i should just get a 300blk upper. but in a weird way this is incredibly fun. [rofl]

As I mentioned, I filed two Form 1 apps on 2/26. Got an email on 7/26 on one form approved, nothing on the second one. Yesterday logged in to eForms site, and found the second Form 1 was approved on 7/27. No emails from eForms. Go figure. Any ways, It took 4 month total wait. Now to Jacks machine shop for engraving, and then assemble the SBRs. One will be 10.3" Daniel Defense MK18 upper on Colt AR-15 pre-ban lower, the other - 10.5" barreled UZI. I'm also looking to get a 300 BKT upper in the near future.

Jack's Machine Co. is awesome, I posted in the other thread. They helped me out this this morning with 2 SBR's and a receiver in under an hour.

Call and speak with Mike before you head down. I introduced myself before bringing any gear in-house. Make sure it's all bagged up, safety checked, and secure.

for those of you that originally submitted your eform and got a call saying they needed a copy of your LTC, did you do your eform as an individual or a trust? I didnt include a copy of my LTC with my trust paper work and im trying to figure out if they will need it or not

If this helps, I had several items pending in Eforms. My LTC expired at the beginning of the month, and I uploaded my new LTC into the eforms document section for each stamp. They all just got approved without issue to my trust. Doesn't hurt to go add them. Saves a phone call and runaround time.

Just an update on my situation...

I had 2 EForm 4's submitted on April 1st. 1 of them was approved on the July 23rd but it was held in draft, the other was approved on the 25th and ready to pick up that day. I just got the message from Acme that my suppressor is cleared out of draft, and I can come pick it up today.

I think I am going to start the process all over again on a .45 can so maybe I will have it for New Years.
