Need service as upper chamber has consistant light strikes. Probably need new firing pins. I know Cole in ME but service is $500. Any other local options?

I know the price is a little steep, BUT you get what you pay for. Jim (head gunsmith in Harpswell) has been the only one to work on my DT-11 besides Rich Cole who used my gun to bring Jim up to speed. I called and asked time frame for service and was told about 6 weeks. Drove up and dropped off, was called in 2 weeks saying all done. I wouldn't look anywhere else for a Beretta premium gun.

good thing i purchased it used and many years ago..........didnt realize the current price :cool:
Reality is...you have to look at the current price if some hack gunsmith fxcks it up.......they are 10K new...5K used if your lucky.

That said.....probably not that hard of a job, because its likely just taking the the stock off and slipping out the pin and replacing.

Or it could be as simple as the pin is gummed up in the flash hole. If you don't want to pull the stock.......Heat the breech face and pin hole area with a soldering iron, shoot some degreaser thru the firing pin hole and shoot snap caps....see if it loosens up.

If you want to pull the stock, check and degrease/degum the pins that way...which is what I would do before i sent it for any service work.

Joel Etchen in PA is the largest beretta dealer in the east and another good option. Coles is very good as well.

A good used beretta dt11 is $9k

Dry fire the gun and inspect the surface of the firing pins. If they are chipped or eroded from primer piercing then they need to be replaced. If they are undamaged at the tip they do not need to be replaced.

DT's tend to allow a lot of carbon to enter the firing pin channel, usually cleaning it all up solves your problems.

Lite strikes can also be caused from a damaged firing pin return spring or a broken or worn hammer spring.

It's not a complicated job to do yourself, I'd be happy to show you how if you wanted to bring the gun to my bench.

If I were uncertain about what I was going to find Id just order new firing pins, return springs, and hammer springs.

The total parts cost should be well under $100

No idea....I draw the line at 3K ish. Im not puckering my ass about dropping a gun, or if one f***s up I'll grab another Browning White Lightning, CZ, Winchester 101, Bettansoli, or Rizzini Dakota from the safe. All of those guns in the safe total cost of one DT-11.

To each his own with that stuff.....not my money. But me and my buddy down here dressed in our camo shorts with crappy Tshirts on with our B guns, have wiped the floor with some of these Krieghoff shooters dressed to the nine's in all their K gear. Its funny.

Im shooting around 18k targets a year, belong to 4 different clubs. Clay targets cost anywhere between 20 and 50 cents a piece depending upon whether I’m shooting skeet, or sporting clays. The Krieghoff isn’t the expensive part of this hobby.

yeah, a $500 is steep for a $10k item? well...
To put things in perspective it's like talking about spending 500 bucks to service a Rolex or something it's not really that big of a deal the other thing is given that if this is a used gun and he has its service properly he might never have to have it touched ever again. It's just an O/U, most of those fart guns can go thousands of shells without much drama.

Agreed. For sure. But not shooting one pays for a lot of targets.....but if you spend it on extra guns it doesn't matter right. Which is where I'm at really.

Smart guys buy one B gun and shoot it till the wheels fall off, which will take forever.

I do about 4K targets per year at about 1.5K/yr Plus shells that's about one new B gun a year. But also shoot a lot of pistol and rifle, and archery, but archery cost just about nothing compared to shooting because you can reuse your arrows.

Just had my DT-11 serviced last month at Cole's in Harpswell and looked over the bill. The full service was $400. included full tear down and replacing needed parts. When Jim started servicing my gun in 2017, I said replace the firing pins. When I got it back, no pins were replaced. Jim said they had lots of life left and didn't want to replace something I did not need. The parts needed this time was 1 firing pin and several small springs, under $100. I had him fit another forearm I had that I wanted to use, and repair a small crack in stock behind tang $75. Have had this gun for 10 years now and will keep shooting until I quit. I only buy Beretta shirts and sweaters when they are on DEEP discount. around now with free shipping!

It's not how you shoot but how you look doing it. You and your buddy are probably never invited to the parties I bet.

Dude! 10K gun and you fret over $500? That's like complaining about a $500 oil change on your Porsche 911 GT2 when Jiffy-Lube charges $60 for your kid's Civic.

If skinflinting is in your blood, learn to fix things yourself. Changing pins on a shotty is actually simple, especially Beretta. Them Italians know how to design simple and reliable shotguns. Beretta, Benelli, and even Franchi are all simple to maintain.

Again, not fretting over the cost, but wanting to give the business to a local gunsmith............and Jiffy Lube will not do Porsche oil changes...............

Well...There are a lot of rich people where I live and some of these are either newbies or wannabe's, buying guns from the local Cole's in Naples.

They are not pro shooters. Pro shooters don't miss ten yard pop up targets and easy targets similar to that repeatedly. But the way they are dressed you'd think they were.
