Bullet Casting & Coating MegaThread

Another couple of days of deer season and it’s back to casting. Waiting to extract the round from the deer I head shotted last Saturday. I’m curious why it didn't exit the head.
Found a doe on my property with a head shot it was small hope that's not why they left it. Been alot of people in the woods accent to my property but walked my property with the dogs and found that with alot of foot prints across a fence but not posted

I had planned to cast bullets this morning and was going to use a second pot I got at the casting seminar. The second pot is a 10 lb Lee, but it allowed me to continue casting while the other pot got new lead and heated up. I did the six cavity MP 9mm no lube groove 135 gn. I made about 1000 bullets or so.

I got a better groove (no pun intended) going later in the morning and I think these came out pretty good. This was also the first time I didn't burn myself!

They look great to me!!

I wish they made this mould a little lighter. I would love a 125 solid 115 hollow point. I love the 125 weight but it’s only in HP form so I’m a little slower.

Basically I would love. 2 - 6 cavity of that design with lube groove. Solid.

I might be able to finally get a head on 9mm

10lb pot is a good feeder pot for a 20lb bottom pour.

I've seen some setups where they have it drip from the 10lb to the 20lb pot, but I don't really want to have a pot of lead 6 ft up. I currently have the main pot at 5 ft so I don't have to bend over when filling the mold. I will create a second station for the 10lb pot so I can essentially swivel to that one. I had it on top of a 5 gallon pail just to see how it would work.

I weighed them and apparently I did 1700 in 2.5 hours. That's pretty good for me.
