Even Texas has gone soy woke.

Interesting. I had to get a license when I was in FL in the late 90s/early 00s.

Apparently I can go to Mons Venus packing double heat now!
Yeah..nothing there now in FL. Changed law last year or something.

I walked out packing the glock full size with standards on move in day.

have to conceal unless your fishing, hunting or going to and from range.

Not a lot of signs in my area. I see more near my daughters in SC than in FL.

FL is gay with a 3 day wait unless you get permit. If you do that goes by by

Huh?

Where can you carry a gun?

Generally speaking, people in Texas can carry guns wherever guns are not prohibited. Some places are always off-limits. At other types of places, the property owner or the person in control of the property can choose whether to allow guns.

Places Guns Are Always Prohibited

Texas law makes some places always off-limits to firearms (both handguns and long guns).
The law was amended in 2021 to remove the requirement to have a license to carry in order to carry a handgun. The amendment also consolidated the list of places where firearms are prohibited.

I guess TX is more restrictive than I thought.
I met a man from texas who moved here and was shocked we could carry concealed here in MA..

It will continue, until it becomes Mass
As long as they get enough people to break even
They will continue
If they do a bud light they will take notice

"I live in a free state."

No, you live in a state that just happens to fight for freedom just a smidge more AT THE MOMENT. I've said it 1 billion times here. THERE ARE NO FREE STATES!

Humans are humans. Put any of htem in charge adn they wanna create order in their own way. The ways of a man seem logical to him and all that. Ergo, you are your own self-proving organism. You come up with an idea to fix a "problem" and YOU think it's a good idea. It gets an approval by a vote of 2-0. You and you are in agreement it's a good idea.

You're never ever ever going to be able to stop fighting. The government is ALWAYS going to want more power. Not because they are evil. (Well, you could go down an "original sin" sidetrack that I'll avoid.). But because they are human and humans want to control things. It's that simple.

This issue is that while the fair grounds are public property, the State Fair is a private corporation. What is at issue is whether or not they can prohibit carry while the fair itself is in operation.

I laugh at people who don't think that Texas is 2A friendly. It's far more friendly than MA including the fact that it will recognize a MA LTC. Then again, a LTC is not needed in Texas.

Liberalism problem? Not outside of Austin and maybe Houston. Every election we're assured that Texas is going to turn blue. Ask Beta O'Rourke how that worked out for him. Or Abortion Barbie.

Must be private property. 99% sure state law does not allow a prohibition on guns on public property. Everytime a city tries they get their PP slapped hard.

Statute and case law are both clear: they can't.

The issue is that AG Ken Paxton told them to go ahead and break the law, and he wouldn't do anything about it--this is after he sued them for breaking the law by banning carry by off-duty police officers.

Like most politicians, Paxton is a self serving cuck. This surprises me not in the least. It will take a private citizen suing to get this addressed and that costs money.

Paxton was impeached at the behest of the Bush family because he beat George P. Bush in the primary in 2022. As Water Commissioner Bush was one of the more powerful politicians in Texas and was expected to win.

All the right people hate him, so he's okay with me. I've been following Texas politics for several years a part of my preparation for moving down here.

The Governor overall is not that powerful. The most powerful politician in the state is the Lt. Governor.

Texas has never been at the forefront of gun rights. I think that’s a mistake a lot of people make.
AKSHULLY New Hampshire is the free-est. Just don't smoke weed lol

You mean the New Hampshire that has gone for the Democrat Presidential candidate since GW Bush left office? The one with TWO Democrat US Senators? The one with both Congressmen Democrats? How long was Jean Shaheen Governor?

Don't get me wrong, my fall back plan if we couldn't move to Texas or South Carolina was New Hampshire. I have a lot of friends who live there, all of them are Republicans and left MA because they hated the politics and the gun laws. Still it's not all that "free" by my metrics.

Neither of us like FL, SC is okay, our son lives there. NC is purple.

Texas had Constitutional Carry before SC or FL. Every southern state I've been to has similar laws about not carrying in court houses or sheriff's stations. That includes TX. For that matter, you can't carry in a courthouse in MA either.

When they required permits, you had to own property in SC if you wanted a non resident permit. NC is better than SC on reciprocity. FL still doesn't allow open carry.

SC and NC require a class with range qualification before they'll issue a permit. Texas does as well. I think FL does, but will also waive that if you are out of state and have taken your state's class.

One thing that those states have that Texas doesn't. Snow. I hate snow. The weather was one of the factors that made up pick Texas.
I will take northern NH snow over a Texas ice storm any time.

What do I miss about Texas? Most of the food, some of the people, and absolutely none of the weather.

We don't get a lot of ice in central TX. In fact, we had none this year. Since I work from home if it is too icy to go out I don't and can still work.

The food is too good, I really have to watch how much I eat because it's easy to put weight on.

Ironically what I miss about MA is a lot of people, much of the food, and the only weather I really miss is from shortly after Labor Day until about mid October.

My wife and I agee, we got out of MA (especially Stoughton) just in time.

The mass wave of Californians is much overblown. It's limited to Austin and really only the people who have come in over the last 2-3 years. I've talked a bunch of people who moved here 10-20 years ago and they are all conservative.

Its what happens when you have mass waves of Californians move in. Much like NH and Maine with Mass residents coming in.
