Wow, that was a damn catastrophe. Sorry about the construction of my sentence(s), nobody else seemed to have a problem understanding it..... but thanks for pointing it out. Anyhow, I have seen a few non-restricted LTC-A's from Dighton including a MG license which does have a green stripe on it.

I was just looking for clarification, didn't realize it would add almost a page to the thread[laugh]

I moved to MA and was worried I wouldn't be able to get an LTC after reading stories of how hard mass. makes it to get licensed. In Bellingham at least, it was a breeze, the only tough part was getting the appt. to go into the police station. Once I was there, the sgt. who processed me was wicked nice, very easy process and he told me that you either don't get it at all or you get approved for "all lawful purposes". Don't know if that's true or not, but if you live in Bellingham at least it's a nice smooth process.

Licensing all depends on your town. But you still have to deal with the AWB crud and other stupid laws.

I know several who have had absolutely no problems with obtaining a non-restricted LTC-A in Bellingham. Glad to see that my hometown has it right.

Went through the app process in Northbridge about 2 weeks ago. No appointment necessary. Just showed up at the PD station, turned in my app, did my fingerprints and pict and out the door I went... Told to expect and LTC-A no restrictions in 4-5 weeks tops. The beauty of it all was the officer on duty... the Obama wisecracks Mass politicians wisecracks were great! Definitely a pro 2nd amendment town. Thanks to all for the advice... it went very smoothly.

Plymouth remains green, wife put in for Class A ALP and the issuing officer said no problem.

From what the wife said the woman was extremely personable and professional, Plymouth PD are a great group of folks.
(Then again, JonJ is a Plymouth LEO, so I'm not surprised they're amazing down here)

I do not see the town of North Adams on the list. I don't know the status there. I am lucky to be from Cheshire, where the attitude is, "As far as I'm concerned, your birth certificate should be your license to carry."

Canton -

They will issue a class A after waiting a year, I just got mine recently. They are a little tricky with the restrictions, but that seems to be par for the course these days.

Worcester: Jerked me around a little, I waited 2.5 mos to get the license, but instead of T&H restrictions, I got Personal Protection.

FWIW, I used Scriv's form letter from the law forum (Tips on Applying for LTC, it's a sticky), and mentioned that I was in the service and wanted to be a cop at some point.

I know we've got a bunch residents of both here, and I was recently looking at that neck of the woods for a potential move. They also stand proud as (at the time I write this) two of only three towns in the state listed in black, though it sounds like Hamilton may be improving enough to at least switch to red.

Anyway, can anyone comment on their treatment of new residents and renewals? As Mass. goes it looks like a nice area to live, but... not that nice.

Thanks for any news! If I get more serious I'll talk to the relevant licensing authorities as well, but what they say up front often doesn't cover the whole of it.

I am also considering a move to Hamilton. I have a LTC-A no restrictions and I don't want to have it neutered on reissue. Any update on how the new chief is handling this for non-business owners?

Just a heads up:

Randolph got a new Chief on July 1, 2010.

Wellfleet will be getting a new Chief this Fall (October I believe).

No idea how these changes effect LTC issuance.

I've been patiently awaiting some feedback on the new Chief of Randolph.

hello all. Just got my Class A no Restrictions in the mail today. Took 4 weeks 1 day to get back. Malden was great. Walked in sat down with the clerk and went through my application. Ended up taking my pic and finger prints, that was it. 4 weeks later I get a letter in the mail, my fiance called me up, and I took off from work on my lunch break.

I talked to one of the officers, he mentioned that Malden sends out the application to the state and they decide yea or nea. Doesn't seem as if they approve it in house. *shrugs shoulders*

I enjoyed the process. Everyone I talked to, was very helpful.

IIRC< Malden has a recently new COP, so it is nice to see it remains a green town!

Great Barrington is a solid G.R.E.E.N.! The officer that registered my application were very cordial and treated it like I was applying for a driver's license. He asked one question and that was how I got interested in firearms. I told my story. It was even fun! Now, it's possible I got the easy treatment because my Dad is well-known in GB, I'm an owner a Utah CCW, and I've got training from Frontsight and MassFirearms. However, I found it a little surprising (if not a little disconcerting) that I got a no-questions-asked UNrestricted LTC-A despite the fact I'm 22 years old and have little experience. Well, I won't be inexperienced for long. :)

*NOTE: You do not have to fill out the official application from AG's website to apply in GB. It might be a good idea to bring the list of personal info for reference. The officer will register you online when you come to the station. When you're LTC is ready you'll get a call to pick it up.*

surprised that you are allowed to exercise your right?I see no reason why it should be disconcerting......

Falmouth: went to the station, handed over all aplicable paper work, took picture, fingerprints, 4 weeks later, unrestricted ltc-a.

Pepperell is still green. Fiance went in, applied, and some 5 weeks later she goes and gets her unrestricted LTC A. [smile]

Even with some questions as to whether she'd be unrestricted with just taking (for now) the basic hunter ed class. [thinking]

I'm looking in to moving to Woburn.

Does anyone know if they downgrade licenses, restrict upon renewal, issue no restrictions upon renewal? Any info is appreciated.
