Harvard Sportsmen's Club

There was no crew, no detail at either end and all the "road closed" and "detour" signs were gone yesterday. There's no work on the weekend so we won't know until Monday but it seems like they're done for the season.

I was at the 100 this morning and didn't see any bullet holes in the bridge or in the shed. Where exactly are they supposed to be?

The morning after the bridge was rebuilt there were 5 gouges in the decking. All are in the end toward the shooting benches. Mark says the hole in the shed is in the small area visible from the shooting benches.

A pistol caliber carbine might have a bit more velocity but it's still a pistol cartridge. I understand the exclusion though. Some moron who can't tell a rimfire or PCC from a rifle will think it's fine to shoot a rifle.

Is this a real problem though? Or is it imagined/suspected? Any PCC will be quite a lot quieter than its handgun mate, and WAY quieter than any rifle caliber.

Sherif,
That's informative but consider this. We have members (idiots) who stand next to a sign that says you can't shoot rifles and proceed to ventilate the plate rack with a rifle. Do you think they'll know or care that there's a difference between a PCC and a rifle?

I respect their choice to be ignorant. Reading is hard.

Out of all the foods you could think of that was your choice? Why not something more healthy like a fruitcake for example.

My Dude, have you MET me? :p

There is only 1 fruitcake in the entire world. It has been re-gifted about 2 billion times
since antiquity and since the world population is 8 billion, I still have 6 billion years to go
before it comes around to me again and I can drop it off at KAG

How big is your ballpark? When I did this exact test, I was getting ≈1200 fps from a 16.5" 9mm, compared to about 1,400 fps for .357 mag out of a 4" barrel
The info was given to me by a big name in the AR business. When it gets warmer out I'll do some testing.

Looks like a big ballpark though.

It will also be interesting to compare 9x19 from a 5" handgun vs. SBR vs. 16"+ EBR.

Using the same ammo in all the guns:

92FS1072fps316 ft-lbs
CX41205fps400 ft-lbs
cat-9963fps255 ft-lbs

If .357 Sig counts as a non-magnum pistol caliber, you're looking at 500 to over 600 ft-lbs of energy for a 125gr bullet (1,350 - 1,450 fps, per wikipedia, I don't have a .357 sig to test)

And .45 ACP is 350-470 ft-lbs (at a lower velocity)

My point is that "energy" isn't really the issue here.

Probably a dumb question - I know the rules for each range/pit are posted on site. I also know there's a qr code for each of those signs. Is there a way to see the rules for each area online without the qr code?

People shooting black powder have the powder out (and not enclosed in brass or steel case) to fill the chamber manualy,, creating a fire risk from smoking.
Makes sense.
So smoking is allowed on the line normally. Just not around the powder
