I wrote a letter to the Boston globe

The comments seem to berate the author/OP for thinking he is Rambo and can save a train full of people. Yet I bet if he had instead said that he would only protect himself and his loved ones, he would be berated for being selfish and cowardly. You just can't reason with some people.

This letter is getting huge online visibility.

****ing Bostonians.

Psuedo-intellectual pussies, if they were only half as bright as they think they are.

Yes, I read the ****ing comments. [sad2]

Most of the Globe readership is in Brookline, Newton, Wellesley, Weston, etc. The wealthy western suburbs.

Boston is not as liberal as you think. It is just that most people which are not have long given up bothering to vote. Demoralization and othering is brutal in town.

Well I guess I can kiss my anonymity goodbye

Dude (here comes your 15 minutes), you might think about getting clean shaven, maybe buy a suit or two for all your television appearances. Clean up good because you'll be representing all of us!!
Don't go Mark Hamill on us an look all haggard. [laugh]

The Boston Globe will be publishing the letter that I wrote to them. I thought I'd give you guys a sneak peak... Comments appreciated.

To the man I sat next to on my way in to Boston:

When I boarded the commuter rail, you were already in the midst of a spirited phone conversation and didn’t seem to care about how loud you were talking. You were talking with someone about the Paris train attack and the growing epidemic of gun violence in America.

You spoke about the “murderous NRA” and “bloodthirsty gun nuts” who were causing our schools to “run red with blood.” You spoke profanely of the Republicans who opposed President Obama’s call for “sensible gun control,” and you lamented the number of “inbred redneck politicians” who have “infiltrated Capitol Hill.”

I found myself amazed at the irony of the situation. While you were spewing your venom, I sat quietly next to you with my National Rifle Association membership card in my wallet and my 9mm pistol in its holster. You were only 12 inches away from my legally owned semiautomatic pistol. I suppose I didn’t look like the “bloodthirsty gun nut” you thought I should be. It apparently didn’t register to you that I could so cleverly disguise myself by wearing a fleece coat, Patriots hat, and khakis.

So, to the angry liberal who sat next to me on the commuter rail: I don’t hate you. I don’t have any ill feelings toward you. I don’t wish to do you harm. And I don’t regret sitting next to you. On the contrary; I feel bad for you. It must hurt carrying that much hate inside of you.

You obviously have strong opinions about this hot topic. So, let me say this as plainly as I can: If a bad guy with a gun had decided to walk onto that train and start shooting people, I would have been prepared and able to use my gun to defend my own life and the lives of everyone else on that train, including yours. Although you may hate me, a gun owner, I would risk my life for you.

Opinions and ideologies make a pretty thin shield against the bullets of a madman. Your liberal self-righteousness and ignorance may have made you feel superior and comfortable, but during that 40-minute train ride, my gun kept you safe.

Nice, I saw this mentioned on social media a couple times. It was a good letter!

the thing that most people in the comments section don't understand is that there are background checks in place already to get your license...and the more people that go to get their licenses means all their fingerprints are on file and they have had background checks...and if you're selling privately and following the laws both parties already have had background checks due to each party having a license...now what terrorist or criminal is going to want to have that information held by police if you plan to do something wrong?

I've have learned to only talk about guns to people that have guns.
No one else gets it.
I'm done wasting my breath on those with closed minds.

I only carry to protect my family.

To the sheeple here in Massachusetts. BAaaaaaaa.

Rapes, violent assaults, gang rapes and murders only happen in Hollywood they say![rofl]

The comments are exactly why my GUN won't help anyone but me and my family in MA. In a free state? Yeah I'll help anyone in need. In MA? Blow your rape whistle. I'll gun my way out of trouble and leave all the pants pissing liberals to die. **** them.

On a train though you're pretty much stuck in that shit. So you may end up saving peoples lives that you don't care about. [laugh]

At least the OP took the high road. I might have written a missive about somehow using the guy's body as a ballistic shield vs any potential terrorists/malcontents... [rofl]

true. I'd try to fight my way out of trouble in such a way that left a bad guy behind for the liberals to deal with...kind of like a final exam. See if your pacifism work outside of the Unicorn Fantasy Playland in their heads.

Kidding aside though in a crowded train SHTF scenario my pocket 9 ain't getting me home if there's a few jihadis with rifles. Gun and run and everyone else is on their own.
