Seeing how many people are moving to 1.92 in+ red dot mounts and starting to add IR lasers and illuminators to their home defense ARs and keeping NVGs by their bedside in case of go time, has anyone heard of smslaser? Keep getting bombarded with Facebook ads from them. Seems in the price range of a Holosun and well cheaper than a PEQ.

I have not, but honestly that is how much they should cost based on what they actually are and do, not 3000+ (looking at you MAWL). It's a diode laser or two, an IR LED with adjustable collimator thingy and a flashlight...why does that cost as much as a nice thermal device or analog single-tube NOD? I would check youtube and see if there are some reviews. The all-in-one is attractive to keep weight and bulk down too.

Yeah some youtube reviews out there of the recently released HFXC. For the price it's incredibly feature-rich but it's not refined or polished. The white light is marketed at 1k lumens and 80k candela but people have noted it's likely half that in real life testing. The illuminator has lots of imperfections and the IR laser is overpowered with lots of diffraction. Sucks because the illum and IR is slaved together. Currently the HFXC only uses an 18500 battery which most devices nowadays are 18650. I'd wait for the second iteration of this thing is my overall impression. Lots of inexpensive Chinese LAMs out there but none have really stood out yet.

This guy does a good overview of it.

Holosun Iris 4 is just being released. More than you wanna spend, but from reviews it looks way better than predecessors and best bang for the buck for something actually decent.

Steiner stopped making their CQBL laser, which is a shame. One of those and an IR light would be a sweet setup.

Honestly all the new LAMs out there are hilariously expensive, I would try to find a used DBAL that suits your needs. I have a DBAL A3 on my "night gun", it does what it is supposed to do.

Here is an other option. I bought one of these because it was cheap, I haven't don't anything with it yet, but add a Surefire X or M300V and you are probably still cheaper then the Chinese options.

I've seen decent reviews of the holosun stuff for close in work. Another one that gets good reviews is the steiner dbal-d2. I've thought about the otal-c with a clamp that mounts a surefire vampire on it. Those would be my 3 choices unless I got a good deal on something like a kiji 3° or Mawl. There's a sight (the name eludes my mind atm) but it's like a tactical craigslist and there's fp Peq's on there if you wanna go that route.

I just picked up a Holosun LE321, I will do a writeup on how it performs in April when we do our annual campout. We usually do some night vision shooting and movement. I eventually want to get either a new upper with a DBAL of some kind or a PEQ-15 and use this current upper (with LE321 and holosun AEMS on a riser) for training.

I picked up three of the V1 when TNVC had them on clearance for $50 a piece. I haven't mounted them to the rifles but have tested them and they are great for the price point. Sad they discontinued them.
