Kerry: Foreign students 'scared' of guns in U.S.

Don't ask me how I got to CNN this morning, but doesn't this guy have more pressing matters? I suppose even as Secretary of State, why give up a perfectly good chance to push your party agenda.

Kerry: Foreign students ?scared? of guns in U.S. ? CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs

[rofl] I am so scared of muggers and pick pocketers that I REFUSE to bring my family to the historic city of Paris.

Eat me Kerry. You were a traitor during Vietnam and you are a traitor now.

Recently, there was a thread on a boating site where an English sailor said he wouldn't risk coming to the US since he was afraid that if a landowner took offense to someone walking along his beachfront, he would appear with a shotgun and start blasting away. Even grownups worry about it.

Some years ago, there was a series of gruesome murders of tourists in the Miami area (as best I remember) and it caused a dip in tourism.

They never seem to mind when our guns are in the hands of American's saving their asses or restoring their freedom. Stay home Subjects before you learn what it is like to be a citizen and then move here.

All your 'foreigners stay home' rants sound funny! And all those "If you don't like it here, go back where you came from"...

So I'm making a general statement.

First of all, it was John Kerry's line that started this thread. You don't have to use his words to attack foreign students. They pay $60K tuition/fees a year to study here. Get on the schools' websites you'll see that international students make up a significant portion of their student body and they normally don't enjoy any financial aid. In other words, American colleges count on those foreigners financially.

Secondly, had your ancestors not been so brave to emigrate from their shitty homes, you wouldn't have been born here.

Finally, I adopted this country as my home. My offspring is just like you speaking beautiful English and getting a great education etc. Please don't tell me to go elsewhere if you don't agree with me, because this is my home.

Now carry on.

When I was in Japan in November there was story about how Guam has become a vacation destination for Japanese tourists. One of the highlights noted was since it was a US territory there were shooting ranges with access to automatic weapons have become very popular for Japanese tourists. So as has been noted earlier Kerry is full of s**t.

+1 on all counts

Good post. Thanks

Yeah - they are scared because the MSM keeps making crazy remarks about stuff with no real facts to back up those stupid statements.

This is going to sound a little bigoted, but it isn't intended this way. SO:

His entire argument is that Americans should give up their rights..... because people from other countries don't like them? Isn't that why we left other countries in the first place, to have all the rights and freedoms we enjoy today?

yea, just more political hack, social re-engineering BS. If they don't like it here, they should go somewhere else. Eff em.

I disagree with you at some level and here is my reasoning...

I went to college here and there have been numerous Foreign Students who blatantly said to my face "US culture is so messed up, I wouldnt want my kids to grow up here... bla bla bla" - So to those people, I say and say loudly "GO BACK TO YOUR HOLE WHERE YOU CAME FROM." Also, I dont think I would be slightly wrong in assuming that such individuals dont give a crap about this nations Constitution and Citizen Rights ! (Oh.... ofcourse except the rights which grant socialism for all type of benefits)

What you are confusing is Immigrants/Americans with people who are Foreigners, and who have NEVER accepted this country as their homeland, hence , they will stay FOREIGNER forever. I disagree with any notion, that such individuals, just because they are paying double the college fee have the right to tell rest of us taxpayers "Please Bend Over" .

Like I said, I am an immigrant and many a times I have been Profiled... it used to bother me, until I realized that most of the times, its being done just for OUR protection. So now I have a little different take on it, because many a times, I get along and build a nice rapport with the people who are just doing their job.

There are things (sexuality debate, feminism debate, abortion debate... above all Constitutional rights, in particular 2A debate) in this country/our culture, that I dont agree with - not just because I was born in a different country, but because of my personal beliefs and individuality. It still does not mean or give me right to impose my views on someone. I respect other people, and expect them to do the same. I pay my taxes and do my fair share of respecting Law. And in return, all I ask from Govt is to protect and safeguard my constitutional rights, ALL OF THEM - because when I took the oath to become a citizen of this nation, I accepted this country as my homeland.

***sorry for the long rant***

+1. Totally agree !

@AG6329
Your points are well taken. (However...) In retrospect, many years ago when I decided to settle down in the US not because of 2A, rather of broader ideals, mainly those elegantly laid out in the Declaration of Independence, also of the general life style that Americans enjoyed. Guns were not in my considerations for immigration and I wasn't eligible to own one anyway.

Now just because Kerry asserted that foreign students were scared of guns, some folks here would state that those students should choose elsewhere to study. It reminded me of quite a few times when I was yelled "go back home" by those no less white people driving by - when I was a poor graduate student. Of course now I would probably give a sheet had people done that to me again.

Politically I voted straight democrats for 2 elections after I was naturalized. Maybe I have become wiser, having made a 180, 2 elections ago. So people do change. And telling them to go elsewhere is a lose lose proposition: They wouldn't leave just because of that friendly advice of yours, and you lose your hair from your anger.

Even if they don't ever change, it's their right too to move to this country legally.

We may rant whatever here. It is all fine and fun and protected too. So I'll respect that.

.

let me stop you right there! $60 K per year??? ANd why is that figure so high? Do you think our schools could charge $60 K per year if they had plenty of unfilled openings at the start of the school year? Wouldn't they have to lower their tuition price, by common sense cost cutting, to attract more American students to attend????

That is what is wrong with higher education here in the USA, open floodgates of (many times) ungrateful foreign students, AND unlimited student loans controlled by uncle Sam. Poor students come out of college with $400K debt, and then can not find a job except for Starbux!

Send those foreigners back home to whatever shit hole university they have back there. When I go into a hospital, I would like a US national who I can call "doctor" working on me.

there is nothing bigoted or racist about a US Citizen comes first policy. After all, there is not a more diverse population ANYWHERE than in the good ole US of A. At the most you could say it was Xenophobic...but I prefer to think of it more as a Patriotic point of view. I think the US cares just a little too much for foreigners, and gets almost nothing back for its magnanimous and altruistic foreign policies.

Look at South Korea, where you have Psy singing to crowds of screaming kids that Americans should be killed....until the north decides to nuke them...then its "hey, where are our American buddies???"
