M14 DCM Program Petition

Typical Washington BS. Those are great rifles, and they'd sell every one. But a government that's burning $200 million per day on a junket to India doesn't care about saving a few hundred million by selling surplus rifles, and besides, it's against policy. They and especially Eric Holder are the most anti-gun administration in history. They won't even allow the re-import of M1's from Korea. Maybe the Repubs in the new Congress can change the policy, but don't hold your breath.

This has been floating around for a few years now, and even if the ATF did change it's "once a machine gun... always a machine gun", it will never happen; even less likely since the military has been pressing the M-14 back into service.

Not really...

Many CMP gun clubs held M-14's in their stores for decades. Many, if not all were recalled to be pressed into service in the middle east... The chopping has stopped for the moment after a lot of paperweights were made. Unless there's a shift in policy, M-14's will never see the CMP for civilian sale - petition or no petition. I long lost and have been unable to find a photograph I had many years ago of a pile of M-14's, M2 Carbines and Thompsons, piled high by a front-end loader to make room for Humvees in a .mil warehouse... The horror, the horror...
