They are waiting for a headline stealer to release it all. A big news event that is the shiny new object then they release the bill.
I don't know. I'm thinking that this IS one of their big shiny new objects. Seeing as how liberal they are and that over 60% of the voters in Mass are cheering this on they won't want anything upstaging this madness. They'll want to tell their sheep how safe they are making them all. This will be a virtue signalling moment on the national stage for Maura. Hell, she'll want this thing to hit the streets right after another one of her illegal guests kills a citizen with an evil gun. Never mind that they don't follow any of her laws. Also I 'm being conservative when I say 60% of Mass voters. It's likely closer to 65%.

I'm wondering what the pants-shitters' theories are about why it hasn't already been passed...

Seriously, we all agree that we're ruled by power-hungry bastards with no regard for gun rights, and that we are a politically negligible force in Massachusetts politics. So... what are they waiting for?

Bueller? I admit, I don't know. Unless I'm right that they're still trying to figure out how to
1. Make this Bruen-proof
2. Make it bad enough that they can tell the sheep it's a Big Deal
3. Get past the House/Senate pissing contest

That's my thinking. I have no idea whether that's correct. Other thoughts? I see that some of you are convinced they're waiting until the timing is favorable for Maura, and even though I disagree with that I admit it's not a bad argument... but then, when? What do you think they're waiting for? They have until the third Wednesday in November, by statute, or they have to start over again. What would Maura need to raise her national profile for before then? A hope of a cabinet pick if Biden wins in early November?

I want to hear some logic. Why aren't they already passing this?

Maybe they want to incorporate it into a larger overall campaign in the fall against guns, that all candidates on the other side can join in on.

Because they cannot agree. Every one of "these" people has a (personal) political agenda aimed at only enriching themselves. The house and the senate had the option to come up with a bill and both versions could not be more different from each other. So melting them together will take time. Also I am sure there are some cool (legal) heads there telling them that as it is the demands on the bill are not going to hold any water in the superior courts so they are trying to clean it up to a point where it has a chance when challenged. This all takes time.

One thing is for sure- once they have what they believe is the final product it will be voted prolly the next day and signed into law immediately. We may or may not get any actionable warning before that.

So I agree- if you fancy something- get it now on your terms instead in the 11th hour.

Hopefully it’s apathy.

They will absolutely try!!!

Even if illegal, they will give it a shot.

Just like Healy’s 7/2016 bs. Not a law, but had everyone pant shitting and panic buying.

But, just like Healy's BS, this is just resulting in more gun sales in the Commonwealth.

See, that's the thing: they are not dumb. They know more guns are being sold because they're leaving this in limbo. They want fewer guns in our hands... why, then, are they letting this limp on? Maura sold more guns that day than any other 24-hour period in state history, I think, and they're flying off the shelves now because of this.

So... why? I'd love to hear from the pant-shitters who believe this law would have some impact, but I'm not sure they have an answer. Because this all makes zero sense if you think they actually intend to pass this and not get it overturned.

It’s not about results.

It’s all about optics.

We all know Obama and Clinton sold a metric ton of guns on fear alone. Healy also.

It’s all a game.

I don’t think they care about getting guns out of our hands. They care about erasing the 2A completely for future generations and let us languish with what we got.

Basically this.
