Maryland AWB case Snope v Brown going to SCOTUS. (Formerly Bianchi v Brown & Bianchi v Frosh)

So, 24% of States and millions of people = no big deal. GOT IT.

I bet, without looking, that "minority of States" represents a disproportionate amount of the American citizens.

How it all starts. Pay attention.
According to Grok, the percentage of the total population covered by circuits 1, 4 and 9 is:
To verify, the sum of these state populations is 109,940,000, which is (109,940,000 ÷ 340,110,988) × 100 = 32.33% of the total U.S. population. This makes sense, as these 16 states represent a significant but not majority portion of the country.

Just for giggles. Throwing together some quick and dirty numbers of how many states (and DC) have some form of AWB (looks to be 11 currently), and factoring in the extra states that have some form of magazine ban but no AWB (looks to be 4 currently). It comes out roughly to 15 states currently have some form of AWB and or magazine ban. When combining the 2024 estimated population from those states, it comes out roughly to 126,271,962 people in the ban states (using US Census.gov figures). With an estimated 2024 population of 340,110,988, that means something like 30% of the countries states (including DC), comprising some 37% of the country's population, lives under some form of AWB or mag ban. This assumes my math/data is correct.

Edit to add: It appears those affected are in the; District of Columbia, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 9th, and 10th Circuit Courts. That's 8 of 13 Circuit Courts. If I got things right.

No dispute. Your numbers are most likely correct.
Unfortunately, even though 15 states (37%) live with some from of AWB, a clear minority in those states care about it. Even among gun owners, many believe in current restrictive laws. Way too many, want to further restrict RTKBA. To us it is a big deal. Sadly, to many it is not.........

It's the same thing with Bruen where on itd face it only affected maybe 10 states, but those 10 states had over 100m people.

Scotus is letting over 100m people have their rights infringed because they don't like politically messy rulings.

Have you not been paying attention to ME, CO, etc? This will 100% embolden lefties in free-er states to come down with the tyranny hammer.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - there is NO SUCH THING as a Free State. Just Less Less-Free states. It is in human nature to control others, hence when in power, a human tends to find ways to control others. Not because they are evil or mean, but because it is our human nature.

THERE ARE NO FREE STATES! THE FIGHT NEVER EVER EVER ENDS.

I believe Duncan has more history so they get to wordsmith an opinion

Ok. So Snope (AW ban) has been through the courts, GVR'd by SCOTUS, been back through the lower courts again and now come back to SCOTUS with the same outcome.

Duncan (Mag ban) has the same history. Been through the courts, GVR'd by SCOTUS, been back through the lower courts again with the same outcome. Next up, back to SCOTUS (hopefully pronto).

Ocean State (Mag ban) has been through the courts up to SCOTUS. Good case but, as @pastera says, Duncan has more history.

Maybe wishful thinking but SCOTUS could be waiting for Duncan to apply for Certiorari (again) so they can combine Snope and Duncan, grant Cert and settle both with finality.

As a pessimist, I am trying..............

The only reason not to do something with Snope and OST is so lower courts don't stall related cases
Duncan is out so they may be waiting for Cert application in order to combine with Snope.
A dream would be they take Snope/Duncan and GVR OST stating to issue the injunction pending outcome of Snope.

That would be great. And seeing that nationally known activist judge D*ckhead McConnell is the one who denied the injunction saying that it wouldn't hurt RI gun owners, which is obviously a crock, it would be that much sweeter having the injunction go through
