Micro Red Dot for 365XL recommendations

I'm going to give the new Romeo X enclosed a shot on my 365 legion. Really wish there were more options, but I refuse to use a mounting plate. Something feels wrong about putting a Commie dot on an American gun. I really like the SCS on my G26, and they do make one that will fit the legion - but idk. We'll see if i regret my decision.

This is what I have on my 365X, I definitely like the green better than the red, my buddy got me one for $200 so it's pretty cheap money. I do despise that it is a Chinese company but have to admit it is pretty nice.
I totally agree that it sucks that it is a Chinese company, and wish the Sig products got better reviews, but there are some real horror stories about Sig's pistol red dots out there, and you are hard pressed to find an unhappy Holosun owner.
We will see.
I plan to mount it to my 322 first and put about a 1000 rounds down range before I mount to my carry gun.
This all started a few weeks ago when I took a newbie to the range and I literally could not see the front site of one of my guns, due to the lighting. I had to put on my reading glasses!
I pretty much decided right then that it was time to explore a red dot on my carry gun. Man it sucks getting old! And I am not even that old! But looking at a computer screen all day is not the best thing in the world for your eyes.
I have an ACOG on my best AR and a couple of cheaper Primary Arms dots on a couple of other rifles, but have always been an iron sight pistol guy, and I am pretty good with them, can put boolits where I want them to go, but the idea that if I ever really needed my carry gun, if the lighting was not perfect, I could have a problem, doesn't sit well with this old Marine. Nope. Not this Jarhead.

I am in the same boat as far as eyes/sights/computer work, unfortunately. Distance-wise my eyesight is better than 20/20, up close, not so much (my readers are 1.75). I find that lighting makes a big difference in seeing the sights but you cannot control that at all times, of course. Having said that, I still usually just pocket carry an LCR (327) or 365 (with just open sights), I assume anything social when I am out and about is going to be very close up.

On the American optic front, Primary Arms is releasing their HTX which is 100% US manufactured, and only one component is foreign. The LED crystal is from Germany. 0% Chinese

But it’s for regular sized pistols, not slim 9s. Hopefully they come out with a compact version.

Unfortunately for now, Holosun is the best option in the compact micro dot world.

That would be great. I like Primary Arms stuff in general, and hope they come up with something in the micro dot class that is worth buying. Because it does bother me to have to put a chicom optic on my gun.

I had same thoughts/reservations but have been happy so far after 1500 rounds.
My scs has been great as well but the EPS didn't do anything for me.
The new primary enclosed is cool but 2x the price I paid for the sig.

Just remember to not give up early. It takes a lot of reps to retrain your muscle memory so you present with the dot in view each time. It could take a few months of practice.
This is why I’m holding off on red dots. Never used one on a rifle or pistol as iron sights have got me by so far. I’m worried that once I get used to a red dot on pistols, I’ll wind up owning a dozen of them.

This jarhead needs the new Marine optic.

I would go for something enclosed so either EPS carry or Romeo compact. Makes cleaning dust and lint easier. The Romeo is supposed to sit slightly lower.

I’m currently waiting on a Romeo in the mail also for a p365xl because I hate combat hold irons.

I might get the Romeo Compact Enclosed once I convert my P365XL to a Macro.

Thanks for the positive feedback. My gut is saying the Romeo x is probably a great optic - my hyper focused brain is telling me to go SCS enclosed. We'll see which wins out in the end. I'm thinking Sig.

I strongly recommend going for an enclosed emitter. Carrying appendix for 4 hours can be enough to accumulate so much debris that the dot is unusable. The human body sheds more hair, skin, and oil than you'd think, plus there's lint from clothing. Obviously YMMV with this.

The downside to enclosed emitters is that you add small, but real the possibility of a seal going bad.
Started with the 407 which worked great but the 507 was so much better for me. 407 is collecting dust will put it on another pistol soon.

The 407c makes for a nice rifle dot, especially if you want to do a 45* or top mounted backup type thing. The K might as well if you can find a mount with the smaller footprint.

The SCS is one of the only micro-dots on the market that has a useable auto-brightness. I'm not sure why other holosuns haven't copied that.

Right?!? I have one on a G26 and I love not having to f*** with the brightness. Makes training in all weather super easy.

Can I ask why? Please educate me.
The limited info I have made me think it was an innovative and well designed option.

Chinesium. Holosun is Chinese, but their company makes red dot internals for lots of companies and they make a quality product that has been vetted. I wouldn’t run a bunch of other chinesium red dots either, not just Olight.

But also, their flashlights had a habit (a few known instances) of blowing up way back when. Probably people using crap lithium batteries, but there were no safety checks. They seem to have fixed that by using their own internal rechargeable batteries now, but I still don’t like the company.

Don't do this to me brother. What's wrong with my ACOG? That looks stupid expensive.

I'm cave man Marine old. We qualified with irons. It was a big leap for me to go to an ACOG. Now we are shittin on ACOGs? Dammit.
Is some milleniel/ gen z - NES member going to be along in a minute to say,
"You're still shooting with an ACOG?" " Nice optic boomer"" You probably still shoot 1911's... grrr 2 World Wars!"

A rando on the NC gun forums posted saying his EPS was huge disappointment due to auto brightness not working nearly as well as his SCS.
It's the one feature I wish the romeoX had but I've gotten used to it now and found a setting that works 90% of the time for carry purposes.

Oh and Boomer, don’t forget the binoculars in coyote brown on the front. All the cool Marines have those.

I have a couple OLight keychain flashlights. The cap unscrews over time and the battery falls out. For flashlights I stick to Fenix, who is also Chinese but quality is amazing.

Lol. I trained with irons too , but they were on a M14.
