I think this thingie does feed shells on Madsen, I'm not 100%, doesn't really elevate them. It's old, probably borrowed design. You may be partially right.

Yup, that's what it does. It's a gravity feed magazine so no lifting is involved.

Relative size would help a lot. Looks like a forging and judging from complexity it must be German. If it had a telescope I'd say def German. Is that steel? Those marks looks like sprues, so may be a cast part?

In the second picture it stands about 1 inch tall. It is steel...not German... and I'm in a hurry...

I'm not sure if it's cast of forged. A part related to this IS cast which surprised me.

Well, yours probably didn't have this part nor could it accept it.

OK then I'm going to say it's an auto sear.

Close enough! It's the sear release when selected for full auto.

Assembled with the connector rod and selector switch

Is the stub on the back for a spring or is it a 'loaded chamber' indicator? If for a spring is it a rim fire firing pin?

looks like a firing pin safety/hammer block, but I have no idea from what.

I was about to revise my guess to a barrel locking mechanism, but I don't understand the pivot in that case...
