Fun and educational last night. On simplex all I could hear was Realtor 23 miles away with his tower mounted beam antenna, and I had to turn the squelch off to hear his weak S-2 signal. I was surprised Darkgriffin and I couldn't hear each other since we are only 12 miles apart and both running attic antennas and 50W-75W. Must be the terrain. This really drives home the value of repeaters with antennas up high.
Good fun. Need to do it more often.
